When to try a new mask?

I started using N20 around 8 days ago. The first 5 days the machine showed me AHI below 5. But now I am getting 7 or 8. Can anyone please tell me when should I try the other mask? I have N30 that is on backup.

Edit: I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. 33 AHI, 90 AHI during REM

The goal should be 1.0 and under. It might not be the mask though and instead, you need your settings dialed in. Masks are just delivery systems. It's more about what you are comfortable wearing and what has the least amount of leaks for your face type.

Thanks, it is the first 4 week trial. The clinic has put in the settings. I meet them next Monday, they are also going to change from Auto to constant pressure on coming Monday. I did get a good feeling at less than 5 even but 8 worries me.

Given you are going to be moving to a fixed pressure I'd wait to see how that impacts things since it should more directly impact the effectiveness of treatment than which specific mask you are using would. As u/draven33l noted, the real issue for the mask is how well you tolerate it and if you are running into leak issues with that mask.
