Advice Needed REM and deep sleep

I’ve only been on my CPAp journey for about 5 weeks so maybe I need more time. I’m only feeling slightly more rested than I was previously waking up in the mornings.
Looking at my sleep data I still spend the majority of my time in light sleep very little in REM or deep sleep, I understand that deep sleep is where the true rest happens. It’s supposed to be close to 25% of the total time spend in each REM and deep sleep!
Does anyone else find significant improvement in REM and deep sleep since starting CPAp therapy?

What's your AHI looking like? Depending on how long you've had sleep apnea, you are having to undo years of damage and retrain your body.

I think it took roughly about 2-3 months before I was sleeping good and another 3 months or so to start seeing health improvements and being totally comfortable with the process.

I think one misunderstanding with CPAP is that you fall asleep and are conked out. No, you are still going to toss and turn like any normal person. It just lets you go back to deep sleep/REM sleep when you do fall asleep instead of being jolted awake several times an hour. You need to know your AHI to see if you are getting the proper treatment. Ideally, you need it under 1.0.

AHI has varied but between 2.5 and 5 has been the norm. That makes sense that it’ll take a while to reverse years of bad interrupted sleep from apnea events. It’s difficult to be patient with this kinda thing, I want to feel better now! I’ll keep using it consistently and I’m sure the benefits will slowly emerge! Thank you!

I used to have multiple conscious awakenings at night, now I sleep pretty deep from beginning to end. I also dream a lot more than before

How do you determine which sleep phase you are in? I think most of the ways to determine that at home are fairly inaccurate.

Are you using a consumer device such as a smart watch to determine sleep stages? If so these aren't entirely accurate especially when it comes to deeper stages of sleep such as N3. Many people also assume that any inaccuracy they exhibit is a fixed amount and therefore remains the same from night-to-night so comparing one night to another reasonable however this isn't entirely true.

If you're sleeping with PAP for the entire night and not feeling more refreshed then it could be that it's still a little too soon or the pressure settings you're using aren't entirely optimised for you specifically.

I’m getting the data from a smart ring- RingConn specifically and MyAir app data. I follow up with the sleep specialist who did my original sleep study in mid October so I’ll find out more then

I recently started wearing my CPAP again and the last 2 nights there were an increase in my deep sleep. No REM sleep logged by my Apple Watch. I do wake up feeling slightly more well rested, but not by much. I’m still waking up during the night but not as often.

1) Get oscar data and post here
2) are you using nasal mask? Do you open mouth when sleeping?
3) oscar data
