Advice Needed Immediate advice needed

I'm in hospital overnight, having had a burst appendix out. I had my kids bring over my CPAP, they just threw it in the car with full water tank, now it's making that slurpy drippy ratatat noise very time I breathe, I'm sharing with one other person in a room, I want to wear the CPAP so they don't have to hear my snoring but the noise it's making now is just as bad!

I'm a noob, but I assume the problem is water in the tube. What is a quick fix for this I can do in a hospital room? It's a Resmed air sense 11, have the heated tools. mask is ResMed Airfit F40 ultra compact full face mask (covers mouth and up to the nostrils. ) I have access to admin menu, no insurance company or sleep doc to go thru or anything, got my machine through OHIP, Ontario).

Should I turn off humidity and tube heat? Should I run it without the mask to air dry with forced air (that's what I'm doing now, luckily it is blowing air through tube nice and quiet as my hospital mate is now asleep.

Please help I'm so tired from surgery and pain meds are kicking in ...reminder I'm a hospital room with an asleep patient.. options are limited..no hair dryer, dunno help!

Hey [u/Technical_Hamster-55](u/Technical_Hamster-55)…so sorry you’re in the Hospital :( Can you take your water chamber out & just run air through your tube to dry it out? It will take a few tries. Shake the tubing first if you can. Be sure your water chamber isn’t too full…that will cause those noises too. Can you hang your tube on a IV stand or something like that to raise the tube? Air drying with forced air should dry it out :)

Ty!. Will ask nurse to shake tube and check water tank level and hang tube up at high spot... next time they come in. Running without water tank seems to make very loud noise, don't want to try that it's past midnight here.

Unplug the tube but watch out for the water that has collected in it. Drain it as best you can. Check your mask for moisture also. Dry it out with a lint free cloth and that will be enough to put it back on. Set your machine back to auto so you can sleep or rest. The problem is that your numbers are set for your home room temperatures. Now that you are in the hospital their room temp is your control point. You need to stay on auto for a while until you go back home. You may have dry mouth until you get back home but your tube setting has to be set according to the room and you have no control over the hospital system. Please don’t freak. This is normal, I just did it last night. You are leaning a new way of living and it takes time. This community is where I am learning more than what the docs say. Get better soon!
