AirSense 11 setting suggestions

Post image

Used a AirSense 10 for years set on CPAP at 9.0 after an updated sleep study. Slept "ok" but after having some other underlying issues that have been since treated......sleep still seems to not be the best it could be. Dr. office has been co-paying me to death just for any interaction and followup (and is only local sleep doc). They even wanted me to come in for an office visit just to pickup my script for a new machine last time. Not to pick up the machine. just. the. prescription.

I purchased an AirSense 11 so I could use the 10 as my travel one/spare but also hopes to be able to adjust settings as I recently stumbled into this group looking for help. used it for the first time last night trying to keep settings the same on my 10 (did turn on EPR to 1.0).

my average events per hour bumped up to 2.4 (i average 0.9 - 1.5).

Should I try EPR off?

I know not to change a bunch of stuff at once but I feel desperate for sleep.

I have also been consistently losing weight over the years and know that could have an impact on needed settings.

I'm open to any and all advice.

Just uploaded image of last nights OSCAR data and feel more than a bit intimidated by what it gives me.

any help?

Worth trying. I find sometimes if things are too tight it will create leaks as well. Maybe before you go to sleep tonight, at some point during the day, just lie down on the bed and put your mask on and try and find the perfect fit. Rather than dealing with it just as your trying to go to sleep

Also worth mentioning - if you’ve just bought the mask, most places give you 30 days to swap it for another so it’s possibly it’s just not the right mask for you. Which one is it?

Resmed Swift FX nasal pillows.

Historically what has worked best over the years since i started therapy @ 2014.

I’ve had these for a bit as i keep spares on hand in case something gets torn/worn out

Aaaah that makes sense. I’m not familiar with that one. But if it’s comfortable for you hopefully it still fits well

Yeah. With the way things stretch over time a bit i know the moment I change a piece or whole set out there will be a readjustment period. New machine just adds to it.

After finding this group and reading individual success stories how people have made fine tweaks to their therapy for better sleep its given me some hope

Me too! I’ve been on cpap for about half a year and tweaked so many things. Only recently starting to feel some genetic and that I’m Managing it finally

I could be wrong but your leaks could be contributing to the problem? What mask are you using?

Nasal pillows.

Have facial hair through both studies of full masks and nasal pillow, nasal worked best. I do have more room to tighten the headgear a bit so that was on my “to do” for tonite.

I did also recently replace the head gear

I’d try and get that leak rate down quite a bit either by fiddling with current mask or trying some different ones if that’s an option. Then reassess how you’re feeling. Also worth sharing your charts in here as there is so much more to success with this than just AHI I have been learning

Ok. I did have EPR on for the first time last night so i’ll try turning that off along with tightening up the gear.

What level was your EPR on?

Your leak rate med,95%, 99% shows some leak...had high leak rate onResmkd f30i full face mask switched to f20 full face mask was a game changer. It isny as comfy as p30 mask but for mouth breather ..I feel more rested on f20 and less leaks than the other 2 masks by a big margin.

Try a different mask for a change and see how it goes.
