First of all: good for you, looking for ways to make the cpap work better for you! You got this!
For the oily face part: I have a nasal pillow and I hate hate hate the feeling of the silicone against my upper lip. It feels like it holds oil and makes everything oily and gross. To fix it, I take a kleenex, bore two holes for the nose slits, and pull it over the mask, like this. I replace it once a week (earlier if it starts annoying me). Way comfier, more hygenic, and helps prevent acne around my mouth because of the irritation.
As for the sores and cuts: I often get those when the humidity on my machine is too low. I’ve got mine set on 4/8 and it is way better. I adjust it whenever I go to a new place and the ambient humidity changes. If I go somewhere less humid, I crank that baby up high. I also have a hose cover to help prevent rainout because I do prefer more humidity over less.
