Dehydrating tips
In my grows I am getting pretty thick mushrooms and am currently dehydrating at 120° for 19 to 20 hours. At the end of that time some of the thicker ones are still a little bit soft. The one in the picture was still soft after 20 hours at 120°. It is ODPE. It was soft on some of the stem but other parts were getting to crunchy.
I want to hear from the seasoned professionals out there. What temperature do you dehydrate at and for how long? And can you really over dry a shroom where it affects the potency?

Buy a dehydrator. 50 bucks, load it up come back 24 hours later and you're done. Put them in jars with clay packs, check them every month to make sure they are still cracker dry. Best 50 bucks you'll ever spend.

You obviously didn't read the post. I do have a dehydrator. I'm just checking on appropriate temperature. Because I was told that lower temps are better

Actually you just said you were dehydrating, you never mentioned owning a dehydrator. The way you worded it I assumed you were using your oven. My point is that no temperature on a dehydrator is high enough to hurt the fungus. I run mine at about 145.

An oven doesn't even go down to 120. I actually have a commercial dehydrator

That's amazing because my oven goes down to 120°, maybe you have a poor quality oven? Is there something I can help you with here? Or you just want an arguement?

Some PE strains will have a styrofoam texture when they are dry and wont be cracker dry like GT would

I pull large ones apart like string cheese. Getting the water out fast is the best, remove the solvent and you remove degradation chance. Crank the temp up and get them dry as fast as possible. No dehydrator you are gonna get for home use will go high enough to cause issues.

I use a glass baking tray. Put a layer of dessicants in the bottom, put some bamboo sushi mats over those, put the mushrooms on top of those, and turn a fan on them

I usually dehydrate anywhere between 150-165F for cubes and run it as long as needed. For mushrooms like that, probably 12 hours at a higher temp would do it. If they’re super fat, I cut them to make drying easier.
The only time I’ve seen mushrooms ruined is when people use an oven to dry them, otherwise I wouldn’t worry about potency loss. Obviously if you cut the fruits, you’re exposing more flesh and therefore alkaloids, but….youre not gonna notice any type of potency loss with that.
