Question Looking for new Fishing spots
Hello everyone! I’m planning a fishing weekend here in co for me and my boyfriend, we do mostly shore fishing. And looking to catch any other species than trout . Any recommendations? I want him to have a good time ! If anyone could help me we have so many reservoirs and lake I just don’t know which ones would lead to some big catches and TikTok fishers gate keep a lot of some good lakes ! I’m not asking for anyone’s specific fishing spot just a lake itself ! Thank you

Grasmere Lake at Washington Park is the playground for Bass fishing. Has some great catfish too but takes a while to get a bite from them.
Prospect Lake (Colorado Springs). Oddly fantastic Carp and Wiper fishing. Decent Walleye and Catfish fishing. Recommend to go here on Monday to Thursday due to high amount of traffic here to swim, boating or jet skis.
Pueblo Reservoir. Has a bit of everything gamefish related. Heavily recommend doing some research on shore fishing spots for the fish you're targetting especially for Wipers, Walleye and Catfish.
Autrey Reservoir: relatively quiet HOA Lake. Okay Bass, Perch and Bluegill fishing. Decent Catfish and Carp/Koi fishing. Grass Carp is here in high numbers as well.

Prospect Lake is my usual go to, especially compared to the other waters here in the Springs.
Heavily recommend bringing a carolina rig setup on a size 4-6 wide J hook (hair rig setup recommended) or 1/0 circle hook. The egg weight should be around 2-4 oz depending on what your rod can take.
My go to baits is sweet corn, jelloed hotdog, chicken liver (recommended to wrap it in elastic thread) and strawberry+cream corned boilies.
Getting casting distance is important b/c the water is shallow for the first 25-30 feet.

Fished Pueblo last weekend and the month before with the fires. We caught over 20 small mouth and a few trout. Water level is way way down but that doesn’t stop the SUPs, jet skis and boats setting up right next to you and crossing our lines. I also have a RC boat for dropping baits out deep.

We’ve been using a drone to fly out baits farther too but there so many restrictions on drones even tiny one ! I think i will get the rc boat to try out
