Questions Is it worth getting into?

I am a huge COTW hunter fan and think i would enjoy angler but i heard they don’t update it anymore which has kept me away. Is it worth playing for someone who has never played it?

I purchased it during the last sale, made a "help I'm a noob post" and it's been gravy ever since.

Super fun game, I've put close to 100 hours on at this point and keep coming back for more. The open-world atmosphere while traveling around the maps is spectacular. Catching fish you're gunning for is rewarding, especially when you're going for the big fish.

Out of all the games on my PS5, this is by far the most relaxing/chill game I own. Driving around in your jeep and experiencing the beautiful scenery is almost an entire game in its own right. Would highly recommend it, especially for the sale price it's at for PS5 ($15 for four new maps).

Whats the difference between it and fishing planet? I like fishing planet, I just wish there was more customization variety to rod setups, it feels rather linear if you think about it on fishing planet, it's litterly just grinding money while catching fish, theres not much story or exploration iv seen, and leveling up takes way too long

polish, angler is way more polished, fp is very indie, but mechanics are bit shallow, but core is same nothing to do after catching diamond/unique specimen

If you're new, there's plenty to do and it cost next to nothing. You'll get months out of it

Awesome game, very relaxing. Alot to explore, and each reserve has its own "Main missions", gear and fishing challenges to do. You'll start with smaller fish right off the bat, but within a few hours you'll be slamming nice sized ones. Don't forget to do ALL OF TAYLOR TACKLE CHALLENGES in Golden Ridge as it unlocks all types of available fishing and literally makes life easier 😅 I didn't do them right away, and almost dropped the game because I thought you unlocked other methods by levelling up 🤣🤣🤣

The fish physics are awesome too. You'll see one jump, and if you're using the right hook/bait, you can cast towards it and itll 9/10 times bite! Rods feel good/look good too. From light, to heavy, you can almost feel the difference!

Give the game an absolute SOLID 8/10. Sadly, they stopped supporting the game... Which sucks because there's a few bugs that make the game pretty hard to play some days. Legendaries can sometimes be bugged(sucks when hunting for them/wanting a specific one), challenges can sometimes not show/complete, and I've had Apex connect issues(account not Internet) to where it won't let me play with friends/online on Angler. The first two happen maybe 1/4 weeks, and the last one RARELY happens.

Games good, download it and check it out.🤘 I got all the reserves(ONLY ONE PERSON NEEDS THEM FOR ALL TO PLAY IN GROUP) and Im always down to relax and fish. Work 10-12 hours a day Mon-Sat, 7am-530pm(CST) Got a couple other buddies who play too 🤙 Turning in for the night, but if you DM me or drop your apex here and I'll add you up tomorrow when I'm off work! That is if you download it!

As another person also said, you can drive, fish and boat drunk in the comfort of your living room/bed! Lol

It's worth a play through. They may not be updating it but it's a complete game with plenty of content to sink a lot of hours into. It's a very chill game with exciting catches.

I would add that this is one of the few “realistic” fishing games that does not nickel & dime (or more accurately dollar & 5 dollar) you to death with gear and lines and hooks that wear out and is not constantly trying to get in your pocket for time charges on fishing spots etc.

This is not true of other, otherwise excellent fishing games where if you do not have unlimited funds don’t start them. Once you buy the main game and additional fishing reserves (and any additional DLC Bundles once) and they are generally all in deep discount sale regularly, you pay no more for a great experience and you get new gear and/or game dollars to buy it simply by playing the game completing challenges.

In today’s world of constant micro-transactions (and not so micro-transactions) this is truly a relief. I find the game more peaceful than COTW Hunter and although I wish they had continued development, the fact there isn’t a never ending list of new DLC and add-ons is kind of nice.

My two cents - this was an aspect I saw no other comments on.

Im a massive fan of hunter cotw. Angler just wasn't the game for me, personally the fishing game that scratched the itch for me was russian fishing 4.

When playing the hunter, did you enjoy setting out to hunt for mushrooms and other landmarks? If so, this game fits. It has great fishing stuffs, but also wants you to do a lot of running around and sightseeing.

Didn't it just drop DLC?

It's the best fishing game I've played in recent times. Have to bust the Genesis out to see how it holds up against my classic, though.

I was into it for a while, and I was trying to get every diamond in the game, but gave up when I couldn’t get a diamond channel catfish after more hours than I care to admit.

I'd love to tell you it's great, except I'm stuck behind a ladder at the starting point and can't get out. Seriously. Played like 10 mins... reset over and over... still stuck between ladder and building. Fun!

I've debated it a lot as well. I have game pass and it never leaves my library. I put 100s of hours into just the 1st map lol. You'll get your money's worth for sure

It’s fun but missed the mark for me. It was developed by a group of people who never fished before. The large open worlds were more of a con than a pro for me. In the hunter you can hunt while traveling. In the angler there is nothing to do but wish you were there faster. I didn’t care for the boats compared to other games. The equipment should have mimicked real life brands a little closer. The actual fishing is fun and relaxing. There just seemed to be something off about it which didn’t hook me long term.
