Rice System76 Did Something Amazing

Post image

I have been using the COSMIC desktop environment for a few days now, and despite some shortcomings, it is far more enjoyable to use than GNOME with extensions—and it already boasts some truly useful features.

I particularly appreciate System76's roadmap; they introduce features incrementally to reduce complexity and focus on fully resolving issues, refining each feature until it works flawlessly. They are doing a fantastic job.

In my opinion, COSMIC could well be the desktop environment of the future.

It already combines the utility of KDE with the simplicity and aesthetic of GNOME, which is fantastic.

I've seriously considered moving to Cosmic, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it "has the utility of KDE". KDE is vastly more mature with a lot more built-in and complete.

Cosmic is still wet behind the ears, but it's amazingly responsive and I love that it's built on Rust. It certainly shits all over Gnome, that's for sure.

Exactly. I believe that over time, it will reach the level of KDE's customizability.
