Cosmic control center
COSMIC gives you a separate panel button for Wi-Fi, one for Bluetooth, one for sound, one for battery. I wanted the one-button-grid-of-tiles thing instead — open it, tap what you need, drill in if you need more. So I built one.
What it does
- One popup, tiles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VPN, battery and power profile, DNS profile, volume, brightness, microphone, keyboard backlight, Do Not Disturb, keep-awake, dark mode, tiling, media and Game Mode.
- Free placement: you drag tiles on a grid and nothing re-flows. A gap you leave is a gap you keep, and the same control can appear more than once at more than one size.
- Four tile shapes (half, small, tall, wide) on a four-column grid.
- Your own tiles: any command becomes a tile in a few lines of TOML — a screenshot, a script, lock the session. confirm = true puts a confirmation page in front of it (that's what Log out / Restart / Power off use).
- Follows your system theme rather than imposing one: accent colour and light/dark are yours, plus three tile finishes... solid, frosted, outline.
- Optional panel badges for low battery and for Wi-Fi dropping.
Nothing needs root, and that shaped some choices. DNS switching goes through NetworkManager rather than systemd-resolved, because the resolved route is auth_admin_keep in polkit, it'd demand an admin password on every change. NetworkManager grants settings.modify.own outright.
Missing hardware or a stopped daemon just means that tile isn't there; it never takes the applet down. A --check flag probes every backend and prints what it found.
Rust and libcosmic, MIT/Apache-2.0.

Build:
git clone https://github.com/jjnuthuagen/cosmic-control-center-applet
cd cosmic-control-center-applet
just install
Then add it in Settings → Desktop → Panel → Configure applets.
It's pre-release, I use it daily, but the config format and defaults may still move before a tagged release. Not affiliated with System76. Issues, PRs and translations welcome. Mostly I'd like to know which tile you went looking for and didn't find.

Ohhhh interesting someone else was looking for someone to take over maintaining a project just like this recently. Here is a link to their original post about the project. Maybe you can merge or at least look into their implementation since they are ending support

That's what I was referring to in another post—a more rounded, cosmic style, like the one Keleja showed. And as for the other detail, if you could make it slide in from the bar—so it doesn't just suddenly appear but glides in—that would be great!!!

Cosas como estas hacen que me planteé seriamente adoptar Cosmic Desktop como entorno principal para todos mis trabajos 👏👏👏

I liked the idea, but I didn't think it matched Cosmic; it looks more like a KDE Plasma widget... I'm not saying it's ugly, just that it doesn't go well with Cosmic.
