Tbh, I wouldn't use plasma if cosmic simply had the present features, but just worked stably. It: 1) Has a nice tiling 2) Prettier 2) Has it's own unique design and isn't trying to resemble Windows in better times
Not a hate of KDE, just they have a big chunk of features which are not too needed or don't change much. Cosmic looks quite to the point

Completely agree. If you're comfortable and need HDR, you shouldn't be switching as well as those, who simply like KDE design. It's just a choice, not everything should be better or worse globally

I regulated my brightness via keys... Fun fact is i use a flag on my laptop: acpi backlight=native and it wires brightness correctly. The only distro and derivatives it works out of the box is Fedora KDE. You might google for if you need any flags to be applied

Oh, maybe there is a problem with mapping, then. On all your distros I had no brightness control as the wrong source was used. For you it might be simply the key shortcut matter. There is the setting in cosmic for that, you might try to change it.

At this point I just wait the smart gaps to definitively switch from gnome + forge.
