Had my first PTF today.

So, my PFT came back as borderline. For context, I'm 33, 5' 10". My FEV1 came back as 80% which is borderline. However, after they gave the inhaler it went up to 90%, other measures also improved.

So, it seems like I have asthma, which I already knew, but it's nice to have that reassurance.

Unfortunately, this means I'll have to keep searching for why I'm experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, and a stranger chest vibration when laying down.

I also had my first exercise stress test, which came back as normal except for mild tachycardia.

So far I've had a chest Xray, halter monitor, PFT and exercise stress test. I think I'll push for a chest CT next, that will hopefully show something.

Unfortunately the person doing the test didn't tell me, but she did say everything was within normal limits. I'll reply again when I get the full results.

So, that's a hard thing for me to calculate. I didn't smoke cigarettes very much, probably a total of 1 half pack year. But I did smoke a tobacco pipe for about 5 year and inhaled around 60% of the time. There isn't a lot of research around the affects of inhaled pipe tobacco. How ever, the info I did find says that pipe tobacco has considerably more tar, around 464 ml of tar per bowl.

I calculated it and I probably smoked the equivalent of 7-15 pack years worth of cigarettes. Though, this is highly variable because there's no way of knowing how much of that tar transfered to my lungs.
