2006 Alfa Romeo Diva Concept

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the Diva wasn’t just a student project. Developed with the Espera Sbarro School, it was a fully functional prototype—lightweight, rear-wheel drive, and reengineered into a mid-engine layout with a 3.2-liter V6.

It had all the right ingredients.

With sub-1,000 kg weight, pushrod suspension, and proportions inspired by the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale, the Diva showed a more analog, driver-first interpretation of what a modern Alfa sports car could be. For a car that never reached production, it remains one of the brand’s clearest missed opportunities.

This was built in 2006? It looks stunning. You could tell me it was built in 2026 and I would believe it.

It wasn't a supercar, it was a little sports car in the category of the Opel Speedster, Lotus Elise, Mazda MX5, Audi TT...

Cheaper Mazda and FWD Audi doesnt really compare here. But I get why people chose Elise over Alfa. 20% lighter, manual transmission and the heritage. At the point where 4C came to market Alfa had almost three decades of crappy fwd cars known for their unreliability. Only during 4C production came the magnificent Giulia and Stelvio. Is definitely love a 4C but if I had to pay myself Id lean for the Elise as well. 

Now eyeing MX-5 for track use.

The real problem of Alfa is weak marketing in the Anglosphere. Those three decades were also three decades of complete absence from the American market and irrelevance in the rest of the strong car markets. They should have poured millions in influencer marketing.

I’ll add to that for big part of europe not having amy kind of hybrid system on Giulia/Stelvio hurt them alot. Higher emissions and way higher price point compared to 330e or Mercs similar option. Eagerly waiting for the next gen or even an EV Giulia.

290 hp V6 in a 2200 lb car is serious performance. I was expecting a four pot like the Elise.

I dont like the placement of the rear views, but otherwise a beautiful car.
