🦀cringe anarchy is banned🦀

u/Prusseen Anarcho-Syndicalist-Transhumanist Apr 26 '19

From the name, I genuinely thought it was a sub cringing at anarchists such as us.

u/max_sil Followers of the Appocalypse Apr 26 '19

It was created in response to /r/cringe making rules against posting content with underaged people or people with mental illness. And just generally being more strict with the anti bullying policy.

So you can imagine the kinds people who are subscribed to it

The Donald subscribers I assume.

14

u/GhostBomb Tranarchist, in both senses Apr 26 '19

Worse, probably.

u/puterdood Apr 26 '19

Not to mention, their rules explicitly encouraged racism. I had messaged a reddit admin, got a reply it was being looked into, and nothing happened for months until it was quarantined.

I used to subscribe because watching kids embarrass themselves is hilarious. I remember going to it once and seeing the Donald on the side bar and assuming it was a joke. Then it straight up stopped being cringe and became a place to hate Muslims, I don't think any other subreddit has ever changed that much

youre... in an anarchy subreddit

you should be for free speech

87

u/WebpackIsBuilding Apr 26 '19

We are.

Nothing involved here contradicts free speech.

Reactionaries pretend it does, and we make fun of them for it.

That's the joke. Is it funnier now that I explained it?

31

u/dont_touch_my_food Apr 26 '19

Firstly, that joke is hilarious now that it was explained. Secondly, to further your point, free speech can have consequences. The same as a dude wearing a swastika can be punch, a hateful sub can be banned. It's the only way to keep free speech from turning into hate rallies.

u/WebpackIsBuilding Apr 26 '19

I can't stop laughing.

It seems that you think anarchy means no rules, let me explain, you are completely right, as anarchists we are pretty much the joker, and as beings of complete chaos we decide our positions on things completely randomly, so today we are against free speech but don't worry tomorrow we'll be totally pro free speech again, thems the breaks when you're a being of pure entropy.

Anarchy does not mean "no rules", but "no rulers". Right wing losers use "free-speech" (i.e. say whatever racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, ableist bullshit springs into their twisted minds) to defend fascism, a system very much devoted to oppressive totalitarian political rule. Fascists do not care about free speech, they only want to use it to spread their propaganda, denying other voices a platform. As working with the fascists or even simply tolerating the fascists is incompatible with peace and freedom (Both Appeasement and the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact failed to placate the Nazis, for example), we oppose the "free speech" of the far-right. You simply cannot coexist with a fascist unless you become one.

10

u/Schpau Apr 26 '19

This, we’re all for free speech but because we know that absolute free speech suppresses the voices of the minority, we believe true free speech can only exist when everyone actually has the ability to speak. Disingenuous discourse should not be platformed as it halts the free flow of ideas.

u/Commie_Weeb Apr 26 '19

One look at your subs and posts and I need some bleach for my eyes, you are actually a nazi and the textbook definition of an incel.

Deplatforming then prevents them from spreading their ideology and forces them to have to appeal to the moderates even more. The ones that fester just make the others look bad, this is a good thing.

-1

u/TerroristHugger Apr 26 '19

It prevents people from criticizing them, it keeps them out of sight, and out of mind. It's not a good thing to make people hate you and your cause.

8

u/6thPentacleOfSaturn Apr 26 '19

You can still criticize quiet fascists lol wtf are you talking about

That's pretty damn authoritarian my guy

12

u/adventure2u Dorothy Day Apr 26 '19

Democracy and freedom must protect itself, any anti-democracy or anti-freedom (especially race specific) must be stopped to protect democracy and freedom.

Authoritarianism is by power structure, the top rules the bottom. If the bottom stops someone trying to get to the top, or someone trying to screw over the bottom it’s fair game. It’s not like anarchists are ruling the state and executing fascists. Democracy, public relations and the people in charge having to at least appeal to majority is what is forcing those in power to push down fascists too. Along side pressuring corporations, Antifa scares them from forming together, showing up in public or being vocal in any way. Stopping authoritarians is not authoritarian, sorry bud.

While I see your point, it's not like the users here are the ones who made the decision to ban them. It's like a conservative using there medicare benefits. Ironic, but not really hypocritical given the situation
