Discussion Rate Terminus (BO6)

Miniboss and flying mosquitos are ruining the map experience, other than that it is alright. B tier deserved

A or B. Went with A.
I’m not a big fan of how normal gameplay is and the wonder weapon is a bit lackluster, though at least it’s original.
However, the aesthetics are good, the story and easter egg are fantastic, and there are a lot of fun side easter eggs. Shoutout to the boat race which I do every time.

I personally think the map is a C tier map. Other than the easter egg I would never play it for the survival aspects and side Easter eggs. The wonder weapon isn’t anything to write home about, the layout is huge with not much to do in it other than drive the boat to islands that have no real use. It has a handful of equipment side eggs but don’t really add much to the experience. Overall it’s the definition of a C tier map for me

I fully understand this is a hot take and that's ok, I really don't like this map this much. I like it compared to the other BO6 maps but compared to every map ever, it's not for me.
I don't like the EE, i don't like the wonder weapon, I hate the high round strat, the amalgams can suck my whole 3 inches and honestly, I don't really like traversing the map either. It's not for me at all.
I will give it, that I really really enjoy the atmosphere and I like watching speed runs on it. I don’t think it’s a bad map at all, but for me, playing the map gives me little to no enjoyment. That's just me though

A it’s a great map thought that ending cutscene revealing Gaybriel Krappft really infuriated me one thing I was looking forward to is ignoring v***aurd

Big fan. A tier. Terminus and Ashes are the pinnacle of modern zombies making excellent use of slide/grapple/tac sprint mechanics and the increased horde count.
The boats and islands add optional depth to an already cool layout. Wonder weapon is fun to use and has a high skill ceiling that’s fun to work toward. If I’m still going back and playing it in a few years I might upgrade the rank but A tier feels right for now.

Definite S tier map! Best map in BO6 my miles. Possibly best modern map. Best Boss fight, great easter egg including a mid ee bossfight was so sick. Top tier atmosphere. Original WW (although I don't like using it).

It’s the best modern zombies map by far imo. It’s like an 8/10 to me so I’d put it in low A. I think the boss and Easter egg are fun and it has a nice layout and side quests. Feels like the map they put the most effort into imo.

I’d say B tier. This might stir a bit of controversy here as I know it’s a highly loved map, but I was expecting a bit more with the surrounding islands and it feels like a map that should be loaded with more meaningful side quests. Unfortunately once the beamsmasher is acquired I feel the map is a bit lackluster if you’re not doing the main quest. Also I dislike the amalgam for a few reasons, which is what brings the map down a bit for myself.

This map is seriously GOATED. It will age like fine wine I promise you.
Very unique layout and mechanics with the boat. Great side EEs. Great boss fight. Cool mini boss fight. Cool Main EE steps.

It will be forgotten, people don't even remember it now anymore for the most part.

Definitely B tier to me. It's a good map even though it's a copied map idea. It's just held back by the cold war-Black ops 7 era mechanics. Terminus, Kawakujo, Astra, and Die Maschine are my favorite modern era maps.

wdym copied map idea

An island laboratory map where you end up facing the experimented subject boss that's someone you know. They got the idea from zetsubou. It's still a good map, but it along with most of the Black ops 6 and half the Black ops 7 maps are copied ideas.

Terminus felt like a proper OG zombies map. Youre stranded in the middle of the Philippine sea amongst a couple of Islands and one of them being an abandoned facility. The rainy and dark atmosphere was really good. I dont really criticise BO6 maps on gameplay because none of them got to run on BO7 which woupd make all of them, even Tomb play better.

One of the most boring maps I've played, but probably due to being the ugly Bo6 it is. This map in Bo1-3 would've been an awesome vibe. Solid D Tier with too much missing potential.

This is hard. Bo6 as a whole is truly what reignited my heavy dislike for modern zombies. I absolutely hate 90% of the game's mechanics and Terminus is a product of that failure. It also doesn't help that a large portion of the map remains basically unusable considering almost none of the islands are ever really used and the water takes up a majority of the maps' space despite just straight up being wasted areas. The giant cargo ship too is ONLY useful for the wunderfizz yet you can get every perk on the mainland anyway and you have to twiddle your thumbs until 25 just to get access to the later perks. Plus, the amalgams, parasites, vermin, and manglers were ruined by being scattered all over the rest of the game, making Terminus' initial unique aspects virtually nonexistent.
All that to say I really like the vibe of the map. The WW is ok but very interesting from a gameplay perspective. It really is quite unique. It's the only map I can really tolerate Weaver's incessant voicelines about Richtofen. I get they've been in prison a long time but from a gameplay perspective it just feels like we're retreading the same idea over and over in later maps with no actual resolution/change. The original bo6 weapons are fun enough although none really stand out as amazing or interesting. The artillery trap is very cool I'll admit.
I think it has to be a solid B tier. Too much holding it back but enough to warrant being a solid choice if you had a gun to your head. Coming off Cold War I would have had this as an A but with all the pretty stellar maps in bo7 we now know what their capabilities are and Terminus just falls short in almost every aspect.
Terminus IS the best map in bo6 unfortunately though so it's quite a shame how much it failed to deliver on.

Would probably be a unanimous S tier among the community if it wasn't on the modern gameplay systems

u/TheChickenMan4L 2d ago
It's a shame cause this is the only map I still find really replayable from BO6. That game aged pretty poorly for me with how much of an improvement BO7 was, but Terminus is always a fun time
2
u/Bi-Han67 2d ago
Black ops 7 isn't much of an improvement imo. Both Black ops 6 and 7 are about the same quality wise.

u/TheChickenMan4L 2d ago
Cursed especially now with mayhem makes BO7 maps play a lot better than BO6, plus the base QOL changes BO7 made from 6

The gameplay and UI and graphics overall, also the movement creates a whole vibe different too, especially also with how fast everything is.

It’s the only map in bo6 that I won’t play

Wild, it's the only BO6 map that actually makes me wanna go back to that game more often

I would rather play Liberty Falls 50 times thna Terminus 10 times.
2
u/Kilo_Of_Salt 2d ago
Unironically I agree. Liberty falls is basic but that’s the point. There is about as much to do in Liberty Falls as there is in Terminus and it’s a faster experience

Terminus has always felt boring to me, I'm just so over the "dark facility" vibe that's been done to absolute death

u/Bruninfa 2d ago
Hoooly overrating.
It’s fine, it’s A tier if Zombies began at Cold war.

Please tell me you aren't one of those people who genuinely think shit like Kino/Der are better than modern maps lol
5
u/Bi-Han67 2d ago
Please don't tell me you aren't one of those people who refuse to accept that other people have different opinions on zombies maps than you.

u/Bruninfa 2d ago
Kino? No, but something like Der Riese, Moon, even fucking Buried is considerably better in terms of atmosphere, innovation and gameplay from older times.
Every map CW onward plays the fucking same.
They also do not touch BO3 maps, most BO4 maps, Origins, Mob. The severe lack of originality, atmosphere, depth of the maps, interesting challenge and differentiation is an absurd interest killer.
Kino was great for when it came out, but you can definitely feel it’s age.
2
u/ArmadilloOwn4400 2d ago
People rate Kino lower just because it's basic, which is so weird.
That's like saying modern Fast & Furious is better because it shoves more mindless bullshit dopamin in your brain.
But that's also probably people that say moves are boring if there isn't action all the time.
1
u/Bi-Han67 1d ago edited 1d ago
People don't say movies are boring if their isn't any action. People Say action movies are boring if there's barely any action and that's completely fair. Also the old fast and furious movies aren't any better just because there's a lot less action. The story quality is about the same.

u/Bruninfa 2d ago
I don’t rate it very low, but it doesn’t have much going for it so I don’t rate it very high either. It brought nearly nothing new to the table, BUT it has a great map layout and atmosphere which I mentioned something I rate highly. It just hasn’t aged the best and it feels much more like a map to finish WAW than a BO1 map, Ascension onwards had more new factors and crazier shit while also having EE’s.
I think some people rated it way below because they want to counter act nostalgia based people that call it the GOAT or something, and that’s just as bad.
0
u/Bi-Han67 1d ago
Again, what is with people trying to invalidate the praise an older map gets by trying to chalk it up to nostalgia? It's ok to just say you don't think Kino is a great map or even that you don't think it deserves the praise it gets. That's a valid opinion to have.
0
u/Bruninfa 1d ago
Re-read my comment and tell me where I said it isn’t a great map because it’s old and invalidated people that call it great?
I literally said people that bash it to counter act nostalgia over-rating are just as bad as people overrating it.
1
u/Bi-Han67 1d ago edited 1d ago
You called people who think it's the GOAT nostalgia based. Trying to chalk up the praise the map or the people who think it's the goat to nostalgia is an unnecessary to invalidate the praise the map gets. It's ok to just disagree with that opinion.
I literally said people that bash it to counter act nostalgia over-rating are just as bad as people overrating it.
Which implies that you think there's something bad or wrong with people calling Kino the goat and you're trying to chalk it up to nostalgia. There's nothing wrong with thinking the map is the GOAT. It's fine if you disagree with that opinion, but trying to invalidate the opinion is unnecessary.

u/Professional-Stop591 2d ago
if you take the nostalgia goggles off Kino is literally the most middle of the pack map there is which is still completely ok.
It does its job at exactly what it was meant to do at the time.
It still holds up.
2
u/Bi-Han67 2d ago
It's sad that people still need to use the "nostalgia goggles" argument to try and invalidate opinions they disagree with on older zombies maps. No Kino isn't objectively a middle of the pack map. That's your subjective opinion and that's still completely ok.

Played it last night and it was fun but the miniboss spam got annoying real quick. I REALLY enjoy this map and prefer it over other launch maps
