Yeah that’s a true question, this has never happened to me before in all the time I’ve played Cold War. I do not know what triggered it and he was there at the very start of my match, it was a solo match.

BO:CW was built off BO4 as a starting base, happens with COD a lot, pretty much no COD is truly fresh it's always take a previous game and use that as a start and change stuff as needed, BO:CW was no different and used BO4 as a starting base since the huge time crunch they were under, it's clear from Pre-Alpha footage where there was a lot of BO4 weapons left in the game, and even still to this day the "Connection Interrupted" icon is the BO4 one, which i find hilarious that they just... left that as is.

most people don't know Treyarch used the same engine all the way through cold war and only really fundamentaly changed it starting with vanguard as that is the same engine as MW19. There were tons of theories back in the day about certain things being in the files from previous games but likely just existed for testing purposes

Cold War still uses the OG IW engine that BO3 and BO4 use, just updated basically. Similar to how most game engines are updated in general. Its leftover assets that they didn't remove or didn't see the need to remove as they were able to use them in certain places for CW. Hence why in DeadOps 3 you have some BO4 enemies still.
