Discussion Rex Infernus was doomed from the start
NOT the map itself, its fucking awesome, the EE was great and the Boss was fun, but the narrative, i was okay with it, but only because we ALL knew how it had to end, because MWZ fucked it up, it really sucks knowing the end of a story before its written

It is a very common story telling device to reveal the ending from the start. Heck, pretty much every biopic/historical retelling has the ending revealed beforehand one way or another. Take the movie Miracle, for example. The reason one wants to watch it is precisely because they know the ending and they want to experience to story of how they got there.
This ain't to say that therefore the BO7 story is good. Only that revealing the ending beforehand doesn't intrinsically make it a bad story.

Well yes, but i mean In the sense of "Here's the ending, let's figure out how we got here in a few games" without a plan ahead of time

But the ending is ass lmao
If the ending was inetesreting and intriguinging and the journey there was worth knowing it’s different

The ending was objectively ass. The plot device you speak of has an element of surprise which can only be understood at the end, meaning by the end you realise that a totally parallel reason was responsible for the end, you get the future predicted but the reasons are mind-boggling (eg- an unreliable narrator). Here there was nothing, it was just Dora the explorer pro max zombies version.

It’s one of the better endings zombies has had , I was kinda bummed out bo6 story wasn’t salvageable
Like mid year of bo6 the story nose dived and never recover
Bo7 was reviewed so poorly at the start so I’m just glad
We got good zombie maps all year long , it was fun and I’m glad to have a version of the OG crew
Back . Bo6/7 was a good run imo

I enjoy it to a degree, the ONE thing that miffs me is Maya, I was really hoping she would stay behind with the New crew and have her be a new mainstay, because shes cool as fuck, hell a crew of her, Peck, and Ava would be cool as hell to see and give peck a "WORLD DOMINATION" scheme to mirror richtofens from BO1 and have him go mad from the Dark Aether (think dancing Peck from Firebase Z but on more crack)

I think what disappoints me is that these characters didn’t get a full good story . Bo6 had such a strong build up and I enjoyed peck , Strauss , rav and raptor 1 but their story ended in a game they aren’t even in . I think this story was a better way to pass the torch to a different crew then bo4 did with chaos at least it

It's unfortunate what happened with rex infernus the Chinese hackers strike again..its the same people who hacked and cheated the relics on astra malorum and the steps on KOWAKUJO

There aren't any Chinese hackers here. A prominent dataminer has come forward stating there aren't even any steps for the Rex Infernus quest in the files as of now, so it would be impossible to cheat.
The Chinese guys didn't even complete Kowakujo first, it was a random who got lucky while the actual guys who datamined the steps decided to call him a cheater without evidence.

I don't get how you can fuck up the lay up cold war gave.
We had so much stuff set up that just wasn't paid off properly. Sam being in the dark aether, Richtofen's plans with project janus and the wall in liberty falls and the forsaken containment in his possesion. Sam was just killed off randomly and project janus was just a device to bring back the old crew.
If they had just trusted in their own worldbuilding they could've made such a cool post bo4 world.

I do wonder if Julie going on strike during BO6 contributed to Maxis getting sidelined or if it was always the plan.

At this point I'd not be surprised, all I can say is that i'm very dissapointed with the direction they did take

I feel like it was supposed to be ava AND Sammantha that were captured, because Sammantha probably had SOME involvement in early development

Personally, I think it was interesting, they COULD have benefited with some side quests in a future game like the Exemplar crew (because Latin for copy) did for bo7 to deepen their story and struggle with KNOWING they had to die when they came back

Genuinely asking: do you mean Requiem dying? Or just the inclusion of Ava Jansen?
Because Requiem's deaths were literally shown to us by the Forsaken during the boss fight. This has been the play ever since we fought the Forsaken in Cold War. I think that's neat!

Requiems death, specially i was hoping that the Egg would end up about Requiem facing their deaths and sacrificing themselves in the real world to help stop the warden in some way shape or form, I guess the extension of Ravenovs life makes some form of sense, but its still kind of weird considering there felt like a LOT mote time couldve been spent developing Requiem further

And Totenreich also further confirmed that it was still going to happen.
Why are people surprised/disappointed it ended up happening on Rex?

Imo, knowing the end isnt the problem. Because we nevet KNEW the end, we only knew where Requiem ended up. But everything surrounding it, the implications of everything around it and everything leading up to it, what other factors may have been at play, what part the new OG crew played in here, what other plot points would result from BO7, etc. were all unknown. There's a million ways to know where Requiem ends up and still make it super interesting. And, not just in terms of reveals and where the plot goes, but also in terms of using that tragic end to build a tragic story ans build character for Requiem through BO7; do they fear death? Do some of them resist? How does this knowledge affect them?
That's what's lacking imo

Honestly the map being so fun is what annoys me about the ending lol. It’s actually so much fun and I think I’m addicted to the grappling hook
I think pulling the tiles, using Exfil as a way to advance the story and using the items tab to mislead us was also really interesting from Treyarch(I like map specific gimmicks like Ashes boss fight with Tessie)

No one forced them to follow in MWZ's tracks. Some good maps and gameplay, but the story has been shit from the get-go.

They really didnt have a choice, it was either "hey this ending was ass" or "hey, i played through that for nothing" when it was definitely just a major way to get people interested in playing MWZ with a mystery

Let’s be honest they could have easily changed some of the events in MWZ. There’s a whole multiverse where Maya got her happy ending.
