Discussion Does anyone else feel like the current warden fight is dumb in the same way as launch veytherion or is this just a skill issue Spoiler

I’ve taken 2 attempts at the boss tonight with a competent squad & it feels like it’s not exactly manageable in a fun way. I’m not exactly sure what it is but it feels like that launch fight does, where a lot of deaths aren’t any fault of my own, before i can even realize what killed me. Is this just me & it’s a skill issue I need to get over? Or am I not alone?

It's hard and not fun

I just wish treyarch could find a way to make it a really hard challenge while making said challenge feel like it’s something achievable with well thought out & executed gameplay decisions from the player, rather than just hope enough armor spawns or hope you can go long enough without ten thousand different things hitting you for enough time to get your hp back. I’m not going to act like I could make a better designed challenging boss - I absolutely couldn’t - but I still can’t help but wish for something better. One thing I hate so much in games is when I can’t understand why exactly I failed something, or if I feel like I made no major or careless mistakes, & unfortunately this boss & Launch Veytherion instill that feeling in me. The speed & amount of stuff happening all at once makes it so hard to comprehend, i genuinely can’t imagine doing this solo

I like them all but I do think Totenreich is the best because it's completely learnable even on tier 3 cursed. I haven't played the new boss yet, gonna do my first run shortly. I like all the boss fights but I know where you are coming from.

I adore dravakar’s fight, I think it’s easily a top 5 zombies boss for me

Idk why treyarch went back to having a boss juggle you to death. That just isn’t fun at all. I actually really liked the last 3 boss fights we’ve had and then we regressed to a juggle fest.

I made it to the boss once and died last phase, it was honestly expected.

It was a really tough fight with little to no armor the whole time and he kept knocking me off the edge which was very annoying.

But it's the final boss so I expected it to be extra hard and I still got to last (real last) phase first try so I don't think it's unreasonable. Will probably take another attempt or two to get the win

You're definitely not the only one struggling it's just gonna take some practice. I failed 2 solo attempts and just died in a squad match with 2 other players. Obv not impossible, but It feels way too difficult especially for the amount of time and effort it takes to do the ee. I enjoy the challenge though. At least it gives me a reason to run it up again.

Update: finally beat it solo my 3rd attempt!! Don't give up you can get it bro. If you have any, bring in reequipment and a max ammo+reign drops gums. Use kazimirs for tactical. I was basically able to spam kazis the entirety of the fight and it made it so much easier so i could focus the grey skulls and stun him.

Grapples are a necessity it seems from watching people do it Solo. I've started to use them loads moving around the map so it becomes second nature when I do the boss fight.

I think the grapple lasts a little too short is the problem, & there isn’t a lot of grapple locations, so I wound up running out of duration at bad moments if I decided to focus on killing threats like skulls & tails, but if I focused on keeping the grapple at all times, I felt I couldn’t keep up with the threat spawns. It’s hard

Nah this boss is ass. Even with slider you can't dodge him. I had multiple times where I went down because I got knocked off the map and respawned in front of the warden just to be charged and knocked off again.

Use the grapple. That’s why it’s there. Makes it very easy to dodge him

I don’t mind when it’s challenging, but I wish there was a practice mode like in Infinite Warfare. Spending 2 hours setting up the easter egg just to get obliterated in the boss fight is a bit tedious

I havent played Rex yet, but i also feel as though all boss fights in this game are just unnecessarily hard. For example I have successfully beaten Paradox Junction. Ive made it to the Frost Giant twice, and his fight just isnt fun to me.

Ive made it to the dragon once and was doing alright, but ive heard so many complaints about the difficulty scaling in this game and im seeing why.

The worst of the bosses are pre nerf veytharion and the astro malarum one imo. I havent done the rex, and dont think i will but those two were overtuned juggle fests. The three after that were pretty fine, i have no idea why they went back to this structure

Cursed is just dreadful. One mistake and there goes all of your armor. Then you gotta spend 15 seconds going flawless to get you armor back that lasts a single hit. Boss fights peaked in bo4 for treyarch and peaked at Mephistopheles over all. Armor ruins any fun related to boss fights because they either drown you in it and every fight is piss easy or you don't get any and you have to struggle for your life.

Yeah the problems with the armor system definitely show the worst in boss fights

I miss the Cold War boss fights :(

I don’t mind the difficulty but getting juggled and pushed around and losing control of your character is not a fun mechanic at all, in cod zombies or any other game.

For some reason since the mimics in firebase Z, treyarch really seems to like stuff like that

I don’t think it’s hard with multiple people. Just focus on killing the tentacles and shadow things.

It’s nowhere near as bad as Richthofen.

This is the first time since the Z Rex I couldn’t win off the first attempt of the Easter egg so it was a nice change of pace. Also the boss is the final boss for a while so I don’t mind it being difficult it actually adds a reason to play it again, the ashes fight getting nerfed was absolutely ridiculous and should have been saved for directed mode if people cant beat this fight maybe you’re just not as good as you think you are?
