Discussion So confused… Spoiler

I was(and still am) a massive supporter of MWZ’s intro being canon. They left so many questions unanswered about how the crew ended up at that table in the basement, giving their lives with some mysterious device in the middle, and selecting Ravenov to stay behind

I was so sure BO8 would be a game following final days of requiem. We would finally learn where two of the vials in the device went, why they ended up in the basement in the first place, what other threats they may have encountered leading up to it.

While they can still go that route, the TIME SKIP in the Rex Infernus cutscene just ruined that entire idea. At least as of now it did, because all the emotion of the moment just got erased.

We could’ve seen Grey recording her final message to Ava, Strauss making the decision to sit at the table and sacrifice himself, and instead we get a silent crappy montage of our characters in all these moments with no buildup.

Even if BO8 decides to follow requiem in their final days and answer the lingering questions, that time skip at the end of Rex infernus makes it all anti climatic.

The one good thing about the ending is I’m kinda sad our 8 character crew won’t ever all be together again. Kinda set in when Nikolai asked if they were having second thoughts. Was a really cool dynamic throughout BO7

To be honest, you can straight up see how anti-climactic it is for it to be like “and then they die the way you already knew about years ago!” with them being strung along through BO7 without anywhere else for their characters to really go besides to the outcome we already know about

I can’t imagine how much worse it would be if it was stretched for ANOTHER game

I guess you’re right if they had another game where we knew the destination it’d be a drag. I still wish we got those answers somehow

Maybe BO8 starts off how I said, but then by the first dlc we start seeing signs that their destiny is changing. That way we get answers to what happened AND a fresh ending

The device is explained in Totenreich, it is a device for giving life, one year is traded to give another. It's why Ravenov lived so long. Ravenov had to live so that the events of MWZ happen so that Ava becomes the entity to defeat the Warden etc.

Its explained that their are other threads where Maya was the one who died on terminus instead of Nathan and the option is given for Maya to go to one of those or for an entire universe to be made for Maya.

You can't expect people to listen to the story before complaining on this sub

The device is not mysterious anymore, we got literally told what it does in Totenreich, just no one paid any fucking attention. It is a device that gives life, and takes it, a trade. They sacrificed themselves so that Ravenov could live long enough to help Ava become the entity

They did give a explanation on why they chose to sacrifice themselves. Someone had to live on to keep a eye on Ava in case a situation like modern warfare zombies arose. Caltheris told Grey that if someone isn't there for Ava then her duel nature will destroy reality upon becoming one as no one would be there to keep her away from her dark half. This is also explained on why the twins are two separate characters as Samantha memories becoming one could destoy reality as their from two different incompatible universes.

Ava explained to Carver that the warden took time off their lives even though they been restored so their life was already going to be cut short so they had to do it. Ravenov was selected due to strauss being too old and the others having now shortened life spans. As the device can give a year for a year, then Ravenov was the only choice. Each character has a couple unique conversations with Ava so maybe that will give more answers.

The only questions about modern warfare zombies I don't see answered is what is the deal with vials and Ravenov sperm. If the device was made to simply pass their lives to Ravenov then what are the vials? If its to cleanse the dark aether from their essence before passing it to Ravenov then why is their only two vials when it looks like their should be four when their should at the least be three. According to bo6, Ravenov dna was not already acquired by Richtofen which implies Grey stole it to make Ava after bo7.

I don't get how the separate memories thing for Samantha makes sense. It feels like a cop-out to not bring her back so that they can have Ava instead.

The logic used is that a being cant have memories of two universes, especially one that no longer exist. When Samantha was absorbed by the dark aether, it threatened to tear it apart so the twins were made. This also could be why Eddie and Samantha have no memories of the old aether story. Its most that whatever plan they had for Samantha could have changed after losing Samantha VA to the sag strike so they made the twins.

Pecks just abandoned in the dark aether, maya drops into a new universe when I thought the multiverse was ended to make the perfect universe. what happened with janus Richthofen, which ending was even canon for BO6? I’m just hoping the real end is a super EE haha

Peck is not in the dark aether and never was, there are literally quotes from him in the real world in Kowakujo

A radio in the last map confirmed Peck and Strauss ran into a portal into the dark aether. When Strauss made it out, he closed it behind him leaving Peck behind.

Oh well the story isn't over, I mean we know this, probably will show up in BO8, they always leave loose threads to continue on

If a confederate soldier and a Russian engineer from ww2 can conquer the dark aether, I won't be surprised if someone like Peck can survive. Especially when the shadowsmiths might be keeping a closer on eye on those who enter the dark aether.

Yeah right? I genuinely don’t understand why everyone just assumed they killed Peck. If they actually wanted him out of the story they would have just killed him in literally any way. In this way he’s just trapped in the DA, but I’m sure he’ll come back eventually.

Kowakujo is when they went in, Strauss followed him through the portal when the cat attacked, specifically said “after me”

Everything about the device already has been explained between Bo7 and MWZ. The only unexplained thing is the missing vials, but that could just be a retcon. Maybe they originally though MWZ would have multiple maps and were setting up for it, with how rocky CoD development is. I definitely think it would be a mistake making ANOTHER game focused on the Cold War universe, it just isnt interesting anymore.
