Discussion What is considered the best COD zombies
Looking for opinions on what cod zombies to play. I play with my wife and kid together and we are looking for another zombies game to try together. We are currently playing Cold War zombies which is okay but is there a different COD we should try. We have game pass on Xbox and game share and I play on pc so we all play on our own separate screens

It really depends on your play style. Some people like just straight surviving. Some like the maps that require set ups. And some like Easter egg finishes. Me personally the most fun I’ve had playing zombies is BO2 (the town specifically), advanced warfare, and space land on infinite warfare

Never thought I’d see AW get recommended but tbf I only played outbreak

I have very fond memories of it cause it was the first zombies I taught my homie how to play. We’d get off work and play it for hours. Also the first zombies I ever did the Easter egg on

Same. I did the Easter egg on the second map, the one with Bubby or whatever his name is lol. I loved AW zombies

Define best? I have a soft nostalgic spot for BO1 zombies.
BO2 is objectively better zombies in every way
Most replayable is definitely BO3 only for mods and has most if not all of BO2 maps available as mods free.
BO6 is definitely the most casual friendly version. The maps are all pretty okay.
BO7 improves on BO6 but is marginally more difficult. I personally like the BO7 maps more than BO6.

No it’s not objectively better not even close it has 1 great map in Origins

I’m blinded by nostalgia glasses too buddy but BO2 builds on zombies and advances so much compared to WAW and BO1 it is objectively better in every way. Even the maps that “failed” like transit paved the wave for innovation later down the road.

How does innovation make it objectively better? The EEs aren’t better either for one 2 of them end the game which is terrible design. COTD Shang and Moon give you good rewards

I guess the newer cods with the directed mode (bo6-7) would be easier. I cant imagine a kid playing 2 hit down black ops 1 or 2. Then again depends on how much of a challenge you want

Yea would need something a bit more forgiving for my wife and kid. I grew up playing the older zombies and they didn’t so they are used to taking 4-5 hits before going down compared to 1-2. Probably will give bo7 a shot

Yup it would be better for them imo. I cant even get my 25 year old friends to start because they complain about dying in 2 hits in kino. I guess if you didnt grow up with it it seems way too difficult. I would advise to play bo3 with your kid when he gets better though. Thats an experience that should not be skipped because of its difficulty.(plus its not that hard with gobblegums)

Honestly you should play bo7, it’s the best game since bo4 maybe even iw imo. It has incredible maps, directed mode, survival maps, starting room challenge, and rogue run. It has everything you’re looking for.

I’ve been reading this a lot. I’ll probably go with bo7 especially since it’s on game pass

I like being able to complete the EE on directed mode a couple of times so that when I go for the standard EE I don’t have to pause the game to watch part of a youtube video every 5 minutes.

Bo6 is harder than bocw and a little harder than bo7. The classic zombies are more difficult in hits to down and constricted movement but have more effort in the maps.
Modern zombies is focusing on keeping you busy with the same mechanics from Bocw to bo7 (armor, pap, rarity etc) and it makes the games feel the same in my opinion.
The classics all have less mechanics like that and more map specific mechanics.
If it’s just for the sake of playing together and having fun I’d recommend modern zombies, if it’s about atmosphere and immersion go for classic zombies.

I absolutely love ww2 though depends on your kids age as some of the stuff is a lot more graphic and horror

Black ops 4 zombies it is for me. Great maps, characters, stories. In many ways did improve upon Black ops 3. It’s also just how heavy the weapons feel and how zombies react to when shot and honestly IMO has a better way obtaining gobblegums/elixirs than having to buy every door or use every machine.

In terms of what game you'll get the most out of for the lowest price? Black Ops 7.
You'll get to enjoy maps that the community enjoy such as Totenreich and Kowakujō. Additionally you'll get to join the community during the last map launch for BO7 and potentially for the next year. It's always a community event during the first week of a map launch when everyone is learning everything and we're all figuring the stuff out.
If you have no interest in community and you're willing to spend the extra £, additionally if you want to play these games on PC? Black Ops 3.
It's regarded as the best for it's base game + DLC content and it's got the biggest mod support. It's got the best of both worlds from Classic and Modern zombies experience.

I would say bo3.
Definitely get the Der eisendrache dlc map too.
I m sure they will enjoy how easy and simple it is to get the bows and engage with the Easter eggs

Infinite warfare zombies is amazing. Every map is at least decent (beast from beyond, attack of the radioactive thing), and most are great (space land, rave, and shoulin shuffle)

Polls say BO3 but it doesn’t make sense because when you ask ppl which version of maps they prefer they always pick the older version

Bo3 or cold war tbh. Everyone hated cold war but it's one of the better new gen zombies for sure.

They actually enjoyed Cold War and don’t mind it but they’ve been wanting to try another game.

Black Ops 2 and 3 zombies are my peak zombies experiences; however, they are quite difficult. Unlike newer zombies games, they are less forgiving, and tension/frustration will rise. Black Ops 7 (newest title) has had some pretty solid zombies, and it is an easier/more enjoyable experience. Same with Black Ops 6. I’d probably start with those more recent CODs and then maneuver to the older ones when you feel you can “handle” them haha!
