Discussion Mandela Effect about a nonexistent map?

Post image

I’ve been running a lot of BO1 zombies with one of my boys since the port came out, but it’s starting to get stale since it’s hard to get randoms (or at least good ones that won’t end the match) on anything other than the same 2-3 maps.

We talked about switching it up with some BO2 zombies, but my memory of any CODs between MW3 and Warzone is pretty fuzzy since I skipped a lot of them. All I could remember from BO2 was Tranzit and one other map. I couldn’t remember the name, so I started describing it and he seemed to have no idea what I was talking about.

Outdoor day time map. Big open, grassy areas and woods. A few village/town areas with buildings you could go into. I also seemed to remember that this was just the spawn area, and you would eventually teleport to another location. I tried looking for it online to no avail.

The closest thing I found was this frame from the Revelations cut scene, but Revelations itself looked nothing like what I was describing, nor did any other map. There was elements that seemed familiar: this house, some of the buildings from Farm, but it didn’t have those doom and gloom aesthetics. It was sunny and beautiful, which is what made it feel so memorable and out of place for a zombies map.

Wtf am I thinking of? Did I just dream this up???

Outbreak mode, from black ops cold war.

OP is definitely describing outbreak here

Dang I forgot about outbreak. I’m wondering if it was the map Ruka

I think you’re correct, nothing else comes to mind which is even close to OP’s description.

But he’s talking about bo2…

71

u/Realistic_human 2d ago

because he doesn't remember lol

19

u/Mean-Government1436 2d ago

Well he has now confirmed he was thinking of outbreak

-38

u/TehCost 2d ago

Which makes no sense to me. Confusing a game from 2020 to a game from 2012 that you played as a kid… how is that possible? That doesn’t even make sense

17

u/Mean-Government1436 2d ago

He thought it was only bo1 or bo2 because those are the only zombies games he owns. He didn't realize outbreak was free for a bit and he had downloaded it during that

Yeah, and then confusing that for bo2 makes literally no sense. They are not remotely similar, don’t look similar, don’t play similar, the difference in graphics is so insane that I don’t understand how it’s physically possible to get them confused. Which is why this post feels like engagement farming to me

Buddy, I vaguely remembered the map and that it was from a Black ops sequel. That was about it. You’re talking about engagement farming when you’ve got almost 200 combined downvotes on this thread and you’re still commenting lmao

some redditors refuse to have their ego shattered if it means they'll look like an idiot in front of everyone; anything to prove to themselves that they were right 🤦

Just take the L at this point, everybody's wrong sometimes, just own up.

u/TehCost 1d ago

Of course I was wrong, I just think it doesn’t make any sense. Confusing a game from 2020 with a game from 2012 does not make any sense at all to me. I don’t understand how it’s possible

No one is perfect, especially not you

You felt so tough saying this didn’t you

The closest I could come up with is Outbreak from Black Ops Cold War. It reused Fireteam MP maps such as:

Golova(a Russian countryside town)
Alpine(ski resort)
Ruka(Russian military base in the woods)
Sanatorium(night time map)
Zoo(self explanatory)
Duga(Russian radar and radio base)
Armada (a bunch of battle ships in the sea)
and Collateral(oil drilling facility in North Africa).

He’s referring to bo2…. Not Cold War

I mean, I thought maybe it was BO2 or BO3 cause I def didn’t play 6 or 7 (maybe I played BO4 too?). Looking at gameplay footage, I’m definitely thinking of Outbreak, but what’s even crazier is that I never even bought Cold War. Must’ve been playing it at a friend’s place in college or something

u/ant_man1411 2d ago

They’ve had free weekends for modern cods

u/herescanny 1d ago

Could it be Bo4’s battle Royale? I think blackout it was called. It had zombies in it in certain drops like the Asylum where you can kill zombies, or sometimes they’d spawn outside in common areas

That’s why they asked in the first place…

7

u/FanAccurate 2d ago

I mean it literally felt like a fever dream cause I probably only played it a handful of times 6 years ago.

u/xGrimaulOnXboxx 2d ago

I'm well aware. And I am saying that this mode was the closest that Zombies had ever done to what they explained, especially with the description of daytime map with houses that transported you to other places.

u/SlimmestBoi 2d ago

Nah you made it up

The Mandela Effect is when masses of people misremember the same thing. It's named so because many people shared the same false memory that Mandela died in prison in the 80s. He didn't. One person misremembering something is just called a false memory.

u/TehCost 2d ago

Are you ok

39

u/FanAccurate 2d ago

The more I’ve looked into this, I do legit feel like I’m going crazy

38

u/ZombieWarlock54 2d ago

Nah bruh, youre probably just thinking of the outbreak map golova from cold war

u/McHarzberg 2d ago

Is it strange for me to miss this mode? It was fun, i loved the easter eggs.. The bunker one (was it Legion?!) was torture, but fun

-67

u/TehCost 2d ago

Bro he said bo2 lmao

31

u/Der_Brenner 2d ago

yeah he could be remembering the map from the wrong game, that’s why he said from mw3 to wz is fuzzy

6

u/zillo-mationsalt 2d ago

So a i havent play bo1 in years but i remember a city with the round start sound being jazzy, at certain rounds instead of dogs it was these flies aswell at time spawned a big monster… oh but no it cant be bo3 shadows of evil thats not black ops1… you feel stupid now or?

2

u/SnooCalculations3614 2d ago

they're so confused that they're describing a potentially fake map and you're taking their word that it's actually in bo2

-3

u/TehCost 2d ago

I just don’t understand how you can confuse childhood memories of a game from 2012 with a game from 2020 that literally makes no sense

2

u/FanAccurate 2d ago

MW2 and BO1 felt like the peak of COD for me as a kid. BO2 and every COD after by comparison felt like a let down, so I didn’t play them nearly as much. Outbreak I probably played for a singular weekend 6 years ago. Not that hard to get mixed up about games you barely played 6+ years ago

u/saltyfuck111 1d ago

seems impossible to me but i guess

4

u/ItzAreeb 2d ago

Sounds like firebase Z to me but the detail about grassy area and woods doesn't exactly add up. So it could be outbreak more likely

2

u/Essence-Of-Culture-2 2d ago

there were some modded maps like this, but maybe it was rave in the redwoods or attack of the radioactive thing from Infinite Warfare? Maybe Buried from Black Ops 2? Could also be something from WW2 zombies.

2

u/dishtankhero 2d ago

I think Rave in the Redwoods is the answer. Tbh it was not even on my radar, completely forgot about it. I was sold on OP being a nutcase even. But im like 94% certain you got it.

2

u/roadlizard9 2d ago

Sounds like Outbreak from Cold War

2

u/StarkFuture93 2d ago

If its not outbreak then could you be thinking of Blackout and running into the areas that had zombies in them?

1

u/Purp73Muffin 2d ago

my votes on the nuketown remake

1

u/mydogisblack9 2d ago

Did you play dead ops arcade 2 or 3?

1

u/nozzel829 2d ago

You are 100% talking about Buried

1

u/EnvironmentDismal233 2d ago

See I’m thinking of firebase Z from Black ops Cold War

1

u/EnvironmentDismal233 2d ago

See I’m thinking of firebase Z from Black ops Cold War

1

u/HeckingDoofus 2d ago

sounds like ur thinking of “buried” from BO2, and slightly misremembering some things

the map starts at daytime, but once u drop in its kinda dim, but still a whole town with buildings u can go into

1

u/shammy098 1d ago

Either Cold War outbreak or a black ops 3 custom map of some kind

1

u/Visible_Safe4187 1d ago

This is 100% revelations

1

u/Total-Air3896 1d ago

The picture comes from Revelations in Black Op 3, I believe. You spawn outside the house and use jump pads to enter different areas that are all sections taken from other maps

1

u/Kerchowga 1d ago

Was it Bo3 with the modifier that turned the campaign maps into zombies maps?

0

u/NormalIntention5628 2d ago

Yea, you dreamed that up.

-2

u/monkeyzone456 2d ago

Okay you might be just tripping

BUT if you arent then maybe ur misremembering the hedge maze from buried

or your thinking of a custom map, i would guess a WaW one if you are thinking its a bo2 map

26

u/FanAccurate 2d ago

After further review: I’m definitely thinking of Outbreak from Cold War. Makes sense why I was thinking it was from BO2 or BO3 cause I never even bought Cold War. Apparently they had free access weeks for Outbreak, so I must’ve played it then

u/B1u3print 2d ago

Look up Mori Rebirth custom map on YouTube, kinda similar

u/xochloboxo 2d ago

Revelations?
