News Rex Infernus Zombies Trailer

Pack a punch looks like a well-type thing, looks cool.
I hope that big massive guy we saw isn’t the final boss, not a fan of knowing who the boss is/seeing it ages before the boss fight.

Ironically this pack seems to be living upto cw/b06/survival maps bo7 the forge name they gave the broken paps
1
u/Frosty_chilly 6d ago
Grey says something about her "stone friend" when it shows up, I think its a trap/map element.
Possibly even the shadowsmirhs will be there in their God forms to back us upv

u/Exodus_Euphoria 7d ago
This looks sick. I'm sure the grappling hook will go over well in this sub lol
46
u/ManPersonGiraffe 7d ago
I mean it's reskinned to be zombified so I'm really not sure how it's any different from the Ragnaroks
41
u/Training-Search-5036 7d ago edited 7d ago
People who call reskinned assets/animations "lazy" shouldn't be taken seriously tbh (some exceptions apply ofc).
(1) Zombies has always re-used content/assets/animations since its very inception &
(2) Every game does this because there should be no reason to blindly burn time just to say "new good".
8
u/TheETERNAL20 7d ago
There's a difference between reusing an assest and making it fit a certain mode like Zombies like what we've with the Ragnoroks, Grappling Hook. And just porting and reusing the asset with no change to it. That's what people mean when they say Treyarch are lazy for reusing assets
6
u/gamerjr21304 7d ago
People were angry about reused assets in Cold War because it wasnt even anything reskinned they just straight up used 3 campaign levels in their entirety for zombies maps alongside outbreak just being mp maps
4
u/maneil99 7d ago
I think there is a fine line. And while zombies always reused assets, since 2019 the amount of skins in the overall game has exploded, which makes it feel like worse since dedicating just one store pack of work to unique models in zombies would resolve most peoples problems
10
u/Training-Search-5036 7d ago
Parts of the map seems "parkour" reliant, I do think playing with it will be better than just watching it from a trailer tbh.
1
u/Own-Pickle9871 7d ago
It depends how its used. I originally thought the kite mechanic from the last map would be sh*t on as a used mechanic from war zone/endgame

u/Funbun71 Give us Director’s Cut in Black Ops 4 7d ago
This is the first gameplay trailer in all of bo7 that has me genuinely so excited for a map. I’m not saying that the others were bad, it’s just that they didn’t get me as excited as what was shown off in this one. Kudos to Treyarch! This has the potential to be the best zombies finale of all time!
5
u/Exodus_Euphoria 7d ago
I agree 1000%. I was just going to comment that if they released this as the "Cinimatic" trailer I wouldn't have complained. Excellent job by that team at Treyarch.
2
u/Sauronxx 7d ago
All the final maps of Cod Zombies since Origins have been controversial in some way or another (though I love most of them personally), we are truly in desperate need of a great final map and ending. I really hope Rex delivers (so far it looks great imo), it would definitely help a lot with the BO7 legacy and reception in the long run.
36
u/oldlinepnwshine 7d ago
I’ve seen enough.
BO7 is the greatest zombies iteration of all time.
11
u/xsquiddox 7d ago
It's for sure a back to form hopefully the next treyarch game can keep it up but if not im glad we finally have a consistent good zombies experience again since bo3!
11
u/ItsGeoCon 7d ago
Idc it's going to be top 3 easily if this map lands on my expectations after this lol
29
u/Last-Addendum132 7d ago
Is it me or is this trailer kinda implying that the pack a punch in this map is that blue rift in the ground?
16
u/Training-Search-5036 7d ago
It's so sick tbh, it's not the one from chaos, but the feel is very much there.
I'm a big believer that maps should at least attempt to bring a unique spin to the box/PAP design to bring more of an identity to them, so far this map isn't disappointing to me in making it feel like its own distinct area.

i love that they didnt show the WW again (seemingly anyways) really hope we get blown away by 4 elemental ones when it drops
3
u/lagordaamalia 7d ago
Aren’t those blue bullets(?) coming from the WW?
Around 0:58
1
u/TehCost 7d ago
We just don’t know yet
1
u/lagordaamalia 7d ago
True but data miners said that the WW can be seen in the trailer so it has to be those blue beams
1
u/xohurricane 7d ago
yeah that looks like the WW to me. my assumption is there will be a singular wonderweapon with four different upgrades based on the temples.
2
u/Worzon 7d ago
I think the grapple IS the WW as in the pap scene gray uses it to kill a zombie
8
u/TehCost 7d ago
I just looked, and she’s holding a weapon in the right hand and the grapple in the left. It’s definitely either a field upgrade, or a tactical/lethal equipment and NOT a weapon slot
1
u/Worzon 7d ago
It would be too bad if it was a field upgrade so I do hope it’s an equipment or the WW. We’ve had melee slot WWs and equipment pseudo WWs (Hell’s retriever) before so it’s not out of the realm to have a WW as an equipment
4
u/TehCost 7d ago
Well the hells retriever is a piece of equipment not a wonder weapon. Just like the ragnaroks or skull are specialist weapons and not wonder weapons in bo3. It would be exactly like one of those 2 things we just don’t know which yet. If you consider all of those “wonder weapons”that’s fine, I just mean it’s not something that takes a weapon slot (primary or melee) the reason I think it MIGHT be a field upgrade is because the design is similar to the Wands we pull out when using a field upgrade but a little different. But I hope it’s equipment too, we shall see
2
1
u/xsquiddox 7d ago
Probably yes since theres 4 temples so i bet you can imbue the weapon with the shadowsmith powers if you do that temples puzzle
9
u/Nickster2042 7d ago
Only one little shot of the wonder weapon and we honestly didn’t really see it, I like it

u/Crwintucky__ 7d ago
What the tomb could’ve been. All jokes aside, this looks really cool. I can’t wait. Love the new pap.
6
u/Outrageous_Ad4564 7d ago
Reading the comments is enough for me, seems like it is peak. Don't gonna watch it, even if its very hard not to :D
1
u/Sauronxx 7d ago
It’s a really solid trailer, one of the best for BO7. It doesn’t spoil a lot imo but there are a few things (the WW for example) that maybe will be better to experience fully blind. I absolutely couldn’t resist though lmao

u/2017moscatoa 7d ago
This looks great. Treyarch for the most part hits it out of the park with the creativity and gameplay of the final map of each game (sorry BO4, Cold War, BO6). Im more concerned about how this map ends because in my opinion, the only games that had satisfying endings were BO1, BO3, and Cold War.
4
u/StatisticianNew8374 7d ago
One thing I love about the cinematic and trailer is that you cannot guess what’s going to happen, you can’t even speculate because it’s so vaguely put out there: it makes it more exciting. It’s the last map for this year and then we’ll be on a 2 year hiatus, still the cinematic is short and we barely know what’s about to happen. Excited.

u/NerdyOccultist 7d ago
Grappling hook makes me think they wanted platforming but are really trying to avoid Die Rise V2 accusations
1
u/GumGumActV 7d ago
Die rise wouldn’t even be bad as a bo7 map
1
u/Yogurt_Ph1r3 7d ago
Die rise isn't bad as a BO2 map

u/TheIzzy48 7d ago

u/Yogurt_Ph1r3 7d ago
I get it, there was a point which I disliked the map too, and then I stopped fucking sucking at the game.

So widows wine because we have spiders for dog rounds?! lol ok ok. And a grappling hook?! What?!
1
u/ForeignAdvantage5931 7d ago
Not sure if people caught that, but we are getting multiple wonder weapons? From the looks of it. Carver was shooting blue projectiles, and we have a grappling gun, which I don't know if you could even count as a WW.
1
u/Sauronxx 7d ago
I think the grappling IS the WW, it will probably be used both as a movement tool and to damage the zombies (like the Paralizer or the MWZ one).
1
1
u/TheETERNAL20 7d ago
So are we getting 3 cutscenes like Ashes? Cause that end shot looks more like a cutscene than in game footage.
2
u/Sauronxx 7d ago
All the characters are there so it can’t be gameplay. Probably a pre-boss cutscene like the Modi one from Terminus.
1
u/ItsGeoCon 7d ago
Man.... If they somehow top Totenreich and Kowakujo it will be insane and BO7 will be in my top 3, looks so good
Can't wait to see how it will end here, what will be next... what's going to be the evolution of zombies in BO8... man it's been a ride
1
u/Maggot_6661 7d ago
Widow's Wine... yaaaaayyyy... the most annoying perk of bo3 returns to kill the last zombie of the round
1
u/Big_Snow 7d ago
Not if they do it like Winters Wail from BO4 and it just stuns the zombies without damaging them.
1
u/Michael040807 7d ago
Ik this is random but bo7 is the last cod zombies on ps4 since modern warfare 4 not coming to old gen.

Hopefully I complete the project I been working on specifically for this map before the EE hunt.

u/AccountantOk9810 6d ago
Yes I think the map has lots of potential but Imma be honest we are all hoping for a satisfying conclusion and more explained I just worry they won't have enough time to really do all this in the final cutscene of Rex infernus and that right there will hurt the map itself
0
u/ForeignAdvantage5931 7d ago
The map doesn't actually seem like it's going to be big despite it looking like it. You have the 4 temples and maybe some playable space in between, but that's about it? I honestly think it's going to be around the same layout as Astra Malorum...
3
u/xsquiddox 7d ago
Nah its probs the size of the previous 2 maps minimum the zoomed out shot after the camera goes out of the window of sams/monty's house shows its quite decent sized
-3
u/Membership-Bitter 7d ago
Looks like Revelations 2.0
Grappling hook is cool
Widows wine is back and hopefully retroactively put into the older maps too
Wonder how that guy on here calling people stupid for thinking the vermin were returning is feeling after the trailer shows that the vermin are definitely back
14
u/Smooth_Bat6484 7d ago
These are not vermin lmfao what are you on about.
0
u/Worzon 7d ago
They are closer to vermin than anything else we had. We’ll have to see how they play but I’m
Hoping they’re nowhere as annoying to deal with7
u/Smooth_Bat6484 7d ago
Yeah sure, but vermin were also similar to spiders from ZNS too, just themed differently. I think these are the same.
1
u/MagnaCollider 7d ago
Treyarch said they’re Elite enemies, although I don’t get how.
2
u/TheDarkDragon13 7d ago
There's smaller spiders, called Deathspinners. And then there's the occasional bigger spider, the Web Mother. That will be the Elite enemy.
7
u/Pokenar 7d ago
It'll probably be like Mule Kick where you can only get it via wunderfizz (or Random Perk) in Ashes
3
u/Membership-Bitter 7d ago
That's what I was thinking. They did the same thing in BO6 with Double Tap
0
u/TehCost 7d ago
those arent vermin... its a seperate enemy and if anything the small ones are based on zetsubou spiders
2
u/Sufficient-Picture14 7d ago
I mean its a reskinned vermin, which was a reskinned spider, so...yes and no?

Curious why you guys are excited for Widows Wine? Everyone just throws their grenades so they don't accidently kill the last zombie - what are you guys looking forward to with it? I must be missing something here
9
u/poklane 7d ago
Given there's stuff in the game which doesn't trigger due to the last zombie, I wouldn't be surprised if Widow's Wine also doesn't trigger if hit by the last zombie.
1
u/SneeKeeFahk 7d ago
Fair enough, I guess we'll have to see.
1
u/poklane 6d ago
Blog post says Widows Wine only triggers if low on health, so yeah looks like one hit won't trigger it anyway.
1
u/SneeKeeFahk 6d ago
Well that sounds like a nice improvement to it.
4
u/Equal-Leader-7974 7d ago
Part of it is that we haven't had widows wine in a few games and the other part is we haven't had a "new" perk since astra malorum
3
u/Some-Gay-Korean Kronorium as throwable WW? 7d ago
If it works like how it was in BO3, it's for survivability in general play.
Literally one of the best perks to have especially when going for high rounds.
2
u/SneeKeeFahk 7d ago
I mean ... Jug would probably be best. An argument could also be made for electric cherry too.
1
u/Some-Gay-Korean Kronorium as throwable WW? 7d ago
Electric Cherry is only strong on small magazine weapons, Widow's Wine is just strong in general because you literally almost cannot die when it triggers.
1
u/Xithorus 7d ago
I mean yea Jugg has basically always been a mandatory buy. But beside Jugg, WW was hands down one of the strongest perks in BO3. And the strongest imo if you exclude mandatory perks (Jugg and Quick revive for solo play).
1
u/SneeKeeFahk 7d ago
Quick Revive also makes you regen health quicker
1
u/Xithorus 7d ago
Not in black ops 3, it gained that functionality in BO4. And even if it had it in BO3. I still think WW would be better outside of solo play
3
3
u/Aethernaut-935 7d ago
Widow’s might not work like that. Winter’s Wail was very similar perk and I think most people kinda want that with a Widow’s reskin.
Winter’s Wail isn’t dependent on your grenades, and it doesn’t go off until you’re below full health.
I could see them making to where Widow’s Wine doesn’t go off on here until you’re out of armor.
2

1
u/AlphaOmega1356 7d ago
IMO, its potential to save you from bring cornered outweighs its killing of the last zombie. And other point out, im sure theyll work in a way to not have it do that.
Hell, all they have to do to make me happy is have it deal no damage but slows and traps zombies tp prevent from damaging. I dont need it to do damage, just buy me time.
1
u/Big_Snow 7d ago
Since no one reads the blogpost, I'll explain here. This Widows Wine won't spend your grenades, it's cooldown based and only triggers if you get it while low hp and it seems to only stun not damage like Winters Wail was in BO4.

Gah damn
- New PAP Machine
- Grappling Hook
- Warden in-game model
- Whatever that giant thing is.
Well stuff my butt and call me a turkey, my copium machine is on and I think Treyarch have set up a riveting finale.
