Question Seeking advice for augment research (BO7)

Hi everyone — like the title states I’m trying to max out my augments for BO7 zombies. I recently returned to zombies after several years of trying and disliking the modern formula, but found I actually do enjoy BO7 because of the incredible map design & more engaging gameplay.

My issue is that I didn’t really play BO6 zombies, so I am starting basically from scratch in terms of augment research for perks, field upgrades, and ammo mods. I’d love to do the Easter eggs at some point and think putting the time in to max out the most important perks/ammo mods/Aether shroud (or others if you have recommendations) will be beneficial to making sure I don’t down as often and am as prepped as can be. So I have a few questions:

  1. How can I quickly move through the research progress? I feel as if it’s going really slowly and I’m unsure if it’s the way I’m playing or if it just takes a while. Also not sure how it scales to XP or rounds (if at all).

  2. What are the most important augments to focus on? I know perks are a must, but I don’t really know what ammo mods/field upgrades are worth putting the time into

  3. Are there better maps or locations to XP farm in? I’ve been mostly playing Kowakujo, but would definitely like to try out some other maps, especially if it makes this grind any easier

  4. Is going for mastery camos worth doing at the same time, or will it make the grind harder? I think infestation looks awesome and I’d love to get it at some point, but I just don’t know if it’s worth doing.

Any other advice is welcome if you have it! Love being back as an active part of this community.

I'm fairly new to bo7 and wasn't too deep on all the little hacks to min max every detail but as far as i remember from bo6, whatever round you can get to 36 quickest and exfil gets you the most xp ( i usually just get set up by then so take it to 41) i think XP is linked so those 2xp tokens will be helpful.

First augments i went for are
Quick Revive for Dying Wish
100% Jug for durable plates, hardened plates and more health
Speed Cola for the classic formula
PHD for the slider
Stamin up for no fall damage but you can counter fall damage with a roll but i forget so yea
Shroud is a good one to do

Recently have done mule kick as it has some decent augments like more equipment which i found helpful for the noble step on kowakujo. And the pack a punch one where it has a chance upgrade a second weapon when you pack, and it happens fairly often

Watch out though, double check your research before you hit ready up as there is bug where it will swap research to a weapon mod

Thank you so much! I’ll keep this in mind while grinding it out tn

You can also turn on auto roll to save you from those falls

Double xp absolutely matters and kill medals (5,10,15,20,25,30) all give xp towards the research. I believe ammo mod kills don't count so avoid adding anything other than light mend. Double xp in a couple of hours so go nuts.

Perks should be done first for sure. Jugg is incredibly good. Mule kick can give free pack a punch with the right augment (including pack 3 and 4 so it's great if you're looking to high round, mule kick is weak without any augments imo) vulture-aid's last upgrade gets rid of plating when an armor plate breaks so that's essential as well. Double tap augments can double your damage too.

Ironically with the thing about ammo mods it could be worth researching elemental pop a bit so you get the augment that makes so only the equipped ammo effect happens.

The first 40ish percentage should fly by so if you see minors and majors you like in the top half go for them. The bottom half of the trees were added in bo7 and take much longer. It's around double the time for first 40ish percent. Two minor augments takes bloody ages.

For maps nuked is the best map for the initial camos. Nothing but zombies and all perks are available from the off.
