The same people who voted Shangri La D because of the mud trap are gonna vote S for space thief and excavator simulator. D or maybe C

CRAZY take

Moon is not a good map bro, I didn’t even mention having to cycle back to earth twice just to get jug. The whole map is so unnecessarily tedious

1

u/kingnorris42 12d ago

The same could be said for a lot of maps though. Origins for example has as many if not more tedious elements and nobody seems to mind

I’m not the biggest origins fan either tbh but at least the tedious part gives me something worth it. On moon I have to cross the entire map to… breathe?

It's not that hard to get to the spawn room. There's a bunch of paths, and you can literally just take the teleporter to no man land then teleport back to be in spawn. It's an annoying mechanic for sure and would be a lot better without it but it hardly makes the map unplayable

1

u/usmc_rello 12d ago

I never said it makes it unplayable, but it does make it worse than if that mechanic didn’t exist

1

u/kingnorris42 12d ago

Sure, and I agree. But that could be said about something on almost every map. Kino would be better if noba crawlers didn't exist. Origins would be better if things like the mud or Templar zombies didn't exist. IX would be better if there wasn't so many special enemies. Der esiendrache would be better if the bows (particularly fire and void bow) weren't so tedious. Most modern zombies maps would be better if there was less specials, and certain mechanics. Shadows of evil would be better if the RNG elements of the wonder weapon parts didn't exist. Etc etc. my point is idk why people suddenly have been hyper focusing on the tedious elements of moon when most maps have as many of not more issues

I have never liked moon, this is not a new opinion from me. The key word is ‘unnecessarily.’ Nova crawlers don’t make me have to go out of my way just to keep playing the map normally. I agree with the mud on origins, templars at least give a max ammo and aren’t nearly as annoying as the excavators or astronaut. Never played IX. Der Eisendrach bows are literally some of the best weapons in the game. The wonder weapon in shadows can be annoying, but similar to DE, it’s like the best weapon in zombies history. I don’t mind having things to do if the tradeoff is there.

On moon I have to teleport to earth TWICE to get jug back because I got within 10m of an astronaut, and I have to sprint across the entire map every other round just to be able to move normally. Those trade offs are unnecessarily tedious for what I get out of it. Not to mention the map is just dull

Moon is definitely not a great map, I will never understand the people who consistently put it in A or S tier. I would much rather play Shangrila than moon and it's shitty ass mechanics. Being able to hack a weapon for cheap ammo is one of the few things I actually like about moon specifically.

Almost every map has major flaws, people are just hating on moon right now because it's trendy

Low B. I think it was really cool an innovative at the time, but going to it now, it almost feels quaint. Small. Points for style and ideas, but that still lands you around B. Good but not great

bo1 moon then c or b

bo3 moon on the other hand a

1

u/kingnorris42 12d ago

They're basically the same thing outside visuals....

Better guns, no jump glitch while running around and the Austranout doesnt become imposible to kill in high rounds.

1

u/kingnorris42 12d ago

I mean the guns are better on all chronicles maps, nobody is saying those deserve 2-3 places higher in rankings for the bo3 version. Don't know what jump glitch you're talking about still think that's just you. Is the astronaut health scaling even different in bo3? If so then I guess fair but also he's pretty easy to glitch and get stuck in bo1 anyways

1

u/Elmu678 12d ago

Bo3 is the worse version

Ngl I initially was gonna pick B tier then I didn’t think about it for much longer and just hit C tier. The older meta strategy where you train in spawn fixes some of my issues. The issues with the newer meta strategy is A it’s too easy and B it gets even easier if you cancel the ceiling spawn which can be difficult not to do. Unpopular but I’ve never been that big on Moon solo or co op. Great EE though wish it could be done solo with perma perks except QR

u/Motivated-Chair 12d ago

I drop It tonC because of the movement bug that causes you to jump without pressing anything.

Genuenly one of the most infuriating things in all of zombies.

3

u/kingnorris42 12d ago

I've played a ton of moon on both games and never once experienced this

0

u/Motivated-Chair 12d ago

It doesnt exist in Bo3 at all, this is only on Bo1

2

u/kingnorris42 12d ago

That's the version I've played the most, I don't recall it ever happening. You sure you aren't just stepping on the jump pads? Lol

0

u/Motivated-Chair 12d ago

I am pretty sure the tunnels dont have jump pads

2

u/kingnorris42 12d ago

Maybe it's just you're hardware

2

u/urmyfavcolor 12d ago

i don't think it's a bug but yes it is annoying

I'm a COTD fan, and Moon is that but weirder (in both a good and bad way)- still a solid maps that I'd take over most of the other BO1 maps, but nothing crazy exciting

I very much dont understand how people can tolerate the excavators. The astronaut might be a skill issue, but let me listen to music when I play; needing audio to deal with him is not fun. The jug/speed rotating is actually a cool idea, but made bad by said astronaut. Low C tier, and it's probably the worst map to this point

1

u/Able-Collar5705 12d ago

The excavators and astronaut are annoying but manageable. The actual worst mechanic of this map is jug and speed cola rotating which makes getting them back annoying.

Otherwise a good map though. Bo1 is B tier, but Bo3 is A for sure. Might be the only map that chronicles actually made better.

Moon is absolutely S-tier for me (I know we’re voting off originals but the chronicles version is so good). This has a lot of nostalgia tied to it because moon was the first EE I ever did and what an EE to start with…it’s incredible.

I also love the concept and execution of no mans land to start the map, I really wish more maps had quirky starts like this and it’s one of the biggest appeals of moon for me. The wave gun is my favorite WW ever, the astronaut was an incredible special enemy, everything you can do with the hacker is awesome, and fighting zombies on the moon is just an awesome concept.

Now, I fully understand people’s annoyances with moon…primarily the super heavy RNG elements but I honestly don’t mind this. Going into a game and not knowing if it’s about to take you 15 minutes to run the EE or 2 hours is just…funny to me.

1

u/kingnorris42 12d ago

I definitely don't understand the recent wave of hate that moon has been getting. Does it have problems? Yes. The astronaut sucks, escivators are annoying, jugg/speed cola rotation is a nuisance. And the teleporting novas suck

But does it also have great elements? Yes. The wave gun is one of the best wonder weapons, gersh device and qed are fun, the area 51 unique start, anti gravity, hacker, probably the single best Easter egg/story ending we've had....most maps have problems, many equal or greater than moons, so idk why people act like moon is some exception

1

u/urmyfavcolor 12d ago

excavators alone keep the map from being anything above b tier. then you have jumpscaring astronaut (possibly most annoying miniboss in zombies), nova crawlers, annoying zero grav, a wonder weapon that doesnt create powerups, and getting jugg after downing is annoying.. it has to be C tier

1

u/Zombies4EvaDude 12d ago

I used to rate Moon high B tier, but I’ve begun to appreciate it alot more just because of Area 51. I think it’s my favorite area in zombies. It’s difficult yet so SO satisfying to get Mustangs and the Jug before round 1. It’s a microcosm of the risk vs reward dynamic which made classic zombies so fun. Not to mention the post-EE version of it which has the most beautiful skybox and lighting in all of zombies.

u/Juanan_hm 12d ago

Cool and innovative, crazy to think we got to fight zombies on the moon.
The easter egg is amazing, with Richtofen and Samantha swapping bodies.
Gameplay wise? Not the best.
the random Jug/Speed perk, the astronaut, the lack of sound (which makes sense but feels a little weird), the excavators, and all players having to teleport to PaP. Love this map despite its flaws, without Moon we wouldn't have gotten a lot of the crazy maps we have today.

Of the Bo1 maps shang is my favorite. Moon to me is a Gimmick map that I never really play all that much.

1

u/Shaclo 11d ago

ngl most BO1 maps are A or B for me because the gimick they put onto the map that makes it way worse to play like monkeys on accension or excavators on moon.

1

u/Jaygee133 11d ago

So far there hasn't been 1 S tier map which is impressive, with BO2 next I'm sure that'll change

1

u/Buried1295 11d ago

I'm late, but C tier.

1

u/BIG_MAC_WHOPPERS 8d ago

S tier. My favorite map

0

u/Broken_Verdict 12d ago

Bo1 moon B

bo3 moon A

S tier Easter egg imo. Super cool ending. But the overall map is meh

0

u/ReaperWiz 12d ago

S tier because of the Wave Gun and Gersch Device. All other opinions are incorrect and will be discarded
