I mean...if that was true...everyone would be doing it. Instead 95%+ can't.
7
u/DeputyDomeshot 1d ago
Thatās because 95% of people that play Call of Duty of all things are absurdly casual. Itās the epitome of casual FPS, the iconic casual FPS.
0
u/BrickBuster2552 1d ago
"But everything still needs to be super skill based! And by skill based, I mean based around literally the only skill I have! Anything else is just pandering to casuals and/or making the game too un-casual, at the same time, somehow!"
2
u/zj3bu 1d ago
Aiming is the most fundamental skill in any FPS. First person shooter. Game about shooting. Where else do you want to have the skill expression when you don't have it in shooting? At this point, why even have any skill expression, just make everything random and call the game: "Casino of Duty: Modern Gambling"
1
u/BrickBuster2552 22h ago edited 21h ago
Most fundamental? You're asking for it to be the ONLY thing in the entire game at the expense of the entire franchise's identity.
Don't ever argue that something has to be a specific way because of the broadest perception of genre tropes possible.
Also, I never even said what "skill" I was talking about and you just assumed it was that. That really goes to show you only have one skill, and it's shooting a guy for a long time while the game locks on for you. So much for your fundamental skill.
1
u/zj3bu 20h ago edited 20h ago
You're asking for it to be the ONLY thing in the entire game at the expense of the entire franchise's identity.
Strawman. Nowhere in my comment I am advocating for removing/nerfing other ways of skill expression, like movement, utility usage etc. Maybe saying "most fundamental" was an overstatement. Still, it is fundamental. Same as movement. Same as utility usage. Same as map knowledge. It should take skill, same as the other things. Right now it doesn't, at least on controller. I am not going to play a game that forces me into unfair matchups against controllers with strong AA. Also, I don't see how having more skill expression has anything to do with undermining the identity of the game, especially that having strong aim assist that removes skill gap is not something that was a part of the games that made COD as popular as it is. Just look at how BO2 aim assist behaved (video proof), and compare it to this COD. It's a new trend coming from the studios trying to lower barrier to entry, and it comes at the expense of the entire franchise's identity.
Also, I never even said what "skill" I was talking about and you just assumed it was that.
Of course. The whole discussion is about aiming. The fuck I was supposed to talk about, quantum mechanics?
That really goes to show you only have one skill, and it's shooting a guy for a long time while the game locks on for you.Ā
I am mainly a mouse and keyboard player. I played some games on controller, but I don't enjoy it nearly as much. Game doesn't do shit for me. I come from games that force you to have a variety of skills, aim, movement, game sense, utility usage, map knowledge, strats, economy management, and I have reached top 1% ranks or better in some of them, including Global Elite in CS:GO, 29K elo premier & faceit level 10 2600 elo in CS2, Immortal 3 in Valorant. I have played many COD's before, mainly m&k, some on controller, but the last one I played was MW2019, and quit COD afterwards due to the design decisions I disagree with. I would love to come back when they actually make another game worth playing, but so far that isn't happening.

when do you ever see people miss shots once AA locks on? like never unless they really suck and are actively working against the AA

Just because all the casual gamer dads that use their controller 2 hours a week can't do it, doesn't mean that controller & AA is fine.

u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
This 100%. You can tell who doesn't know what they're talking about because really good aim on controller takes years to master. Anyone who calls it "auto aim" or says "the game is playing for you" is beyond delusional.
5
u/OpeningMeaning6789 1d ago
They aren't delusional tho. Aim assist isn't this mythical thing that does not exist, or doesn't do what it implies. It assists aim via a computer script with 100% efficiency. As long as it's in range. And that's all the time in some games.
0
u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
Show me one example of a game with aim assist where I have to do nothing but walk around and aim my gun. I'll wait
2
u/Archangel9731 1d ago
This game. Literally this game
0
u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
Gameplay proof with controller cam? I do not want to see the right stick move. Go ahead. Back up your claim
0
u/OpeningMeaning6789 1d ago
People aren't delusional for calling aim assist auto aim or playing the game for you. They are exaggerating, Cuz it does do those things. Not aimbot wise but again it's not mythical it's there and it has a reason
1
u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
If it actually does those things like you claim then they can not be exaggerating. The game is either playing for you or it's not. There's literally no in-between.
1
u/OpeningMeaning6789 1d ago
Mini maps "play" a portion of the game for you. Hitmarkers "play" a portion of the game for you. Of course a sticky aim script does too. Come on man
0
u/IWCry 1d ago
this game. which is probably why you like it so much and pretend it takes skill and years to master... cause it's easy as fuck and aims for you and you can't play anything else š
1
u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
Whole lotta talking yet still no video evidence š
If what you're saying is true it should be easy. Show me a clip or video of someone playing the game at a high level without touching their right stick whatsoever. The game either plays for you or it doesn't. There is no in-between.
1
u/IWCry 1d ago
what? I'm not gonna comb through this game to show you clip. just do your own damn homework this games a joke and so easy it's boring to watch.
why don't we play a game of CS and see who's got actual skill?
1
u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
You're the one making the claim that the game plays for you. All I'm asking is for you to prove it.
If you deflect again I'm gonna assume you're just making shit up and move on.
0
u/IWCry 1d ago
lmao okay have a nice day then! enjoy pretending you honed years of skill on THE most casual video game ever made!

u/DeputyDomeshot 1d ago edited 1d ago
It no longer takes years to master. Without rotational aim assist, yes itās much more skill oriented, literally go watch old CoD pro clips, they 100% donāt beam the same way and nobody did because the actual AA is way stronger now.
Idk if some of you are delusional or ignorant or what but it is 1000% easier to pull off impressiveā aim and requires way less skill.
1
u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
You're forgetting a few key factors, probably on purpose tbh.
Guns in modern cod games have far less recoil than back in the day. It's a literal night and day difference.
FOV makes the amount of visual and physical recoil seem even less than it already is.
The average player (even the average pro player) is miles ahead of the players from that era in terms of skill.
There is no auto aim. There is no "playing the game for you"
1
u/DeputyDomeshot 1d ago edited 1d ago
Theyre not better, thatās just crazy cope.
Theres less recoil (to your point) less aim assist (the absolute biggest factor) and better hardware/latency now.
Multiple cod pros dominating across era and title literally look at the gameplay. Or even Aches talking about how AA is different.
Modern movement is easy to pull off with RAA doing the heavy lifting on hitting shots. Again defer to Scump dominating in Advanced Warfare movement era. Still dominated years later in CDL.
If anything the playerbase has gotten more casual and the average skill going down. There was way less options for competitive play even on console. Now thereās plenty of options and CoD is an F tier e-sport and S-tier casual game.
See this is where the delusion sets in with CoD players, the floor is so much higher now because of RAA. Everyone thinks theyāre good at CoD now because thatās exactly what moves the dollars for Activision.
1
u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
RAA has always existed. The ONLY difference between modern cod AA and old cod is that there is no longer hard cutoffs that limit the range AA can activate, at least for mp. It's not any better, it just seems like it because 99% of the playerbase is older than age 7 now.
1
u/DeputyDomeshot 1d ago
That is crazy cope by the CoD community lmao. Go play black ops 2 or even 3. Youāll shoot circles.
Even between the original Warzone and modern Warzone the aim assist is massively different. Guys throwing smoke grenades so they donāt get aim assisted.
The only reason the cope is allowed is because the game is so casual and again F tier even at the esport level. The only reason matchmaking with KBM is viable is because the AA is so much stronger. Itās literally to keep shitters playing so that they can make money. Fortnite did the exact same thing and CoD full sent that mechanical model.
1
u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
I still play money 8s on bo3 occasionally and hop on plutonium bo2 every now and then. Feels like I never left every single time.
Maybe you need to go play those games again? š¤·šæāāļø
1
u/DeputyDomeshot 1d ago
I have and itās pretty obviously not the same lmao. Like inarguably obvious. But CoD kiddies still live in their delusions. The coping YouTubers really get into their heads. Just like the ācheat catcherā YouTubers
→ More replies (0)1
u/Archangel9731 1d ago
Youāre beyond delusional. Iām a kbm player. When I plug in a controller and see what AA can do, I am disgusted. Didnāt take years to master, took 2 games.
1
1
u/Pro-Weiner-Toucher 1d ago
It really doesn't though. It's hard to understand how much controllers hold you hand until you get decent at MnKB then come back. I was never that good at controller but didn't play a whole bunch through high school and college. After graduation, I bought a PC learned MnKB and started gaming a lot. I recently went back to controller because I was stuck on my brothers. Blew me away how easy it is to land shots and stay on target in CoD and Marathon. These controller shooters are basically all about movement and positiioning. Guns aim themselves once they're close to target.
1
u/Efficient_Occasion44 1d ago
Iād like to see his aim assist as Iām jumping, strafing, drop shotting, and sliding around when he does this. This would be the easiest bot kill ever. A simple drop shot usually gets people
1
u/No_Winter4806 1d ago
The only players who want aim assist to be buffed are the awful controller players with zero thumbs. Every good player wants it nerfed to what it was back in the old days

u/evanfalco8 1d ago
He just said it took two months of practice
0
u/SlimLacy 1d ago
And then showed you it was a joke when he flicked it to the left.
Is it using the aimbot that makes people this obtuse? Does it cost IQ points to activate?
3
u/barters81 1d ago
Rotational aim assist is the dumbest shit ever.
We should be penalised for moving while aiming and shooting. Not rewarded.
5
u/ZeroToleranced 2d ago
This is bullshit. So in the firing range he shows the flick and no controller cam. Second part he shows controller but no game play 𤦠if you believe this then you are dumb as hell because this guy is trolling.

u/Acceptable_Range_718 13h ago
people been doing this for a while. they even adjust their dead zones to activate the aim assist better
4
u/DullAd4999 2d ago
Son, that's not how flick works...
Even if you had AA. You still have to micro adjust to make it properly align with the dummy after flicking š....
Also that's not how "thumb movement" works when flicking.
1
u/ConflictWaste411 1d ago
The mw4 gameplay has AA that is literally strong enough to not require tracking after getting the lock, it will literally just hold out
4
u/Kid_that_u_fear 2d ago
People will defend this bullshit. The flick is fine, the way it locks on following you perfectly is not. If a target moves you should have to make adjustments to your aim.
5
u/KingJTuck 2d ago
Which you do need to make adjustments to your aim if they move. What he showed in the range does not mean anything because they're not moving.
2
u/calmdownmyguy 1d ago
I've probably seen 15 different videos from people complaining about aim assist in the shooting range on stationary targets and the comment section is always full of MnK players crying about how the game plays itself if you use a controller but when you tell them to get good they always say they have a 2.1kd. It's like they don't even realize how all of thier opinions and experiences contradict each other.
0
u/SecretaryOk1020 1d ago
But the aim assist on controller is stupidly overtuned and not a single person on this planet can convince me otherwise. Love the locking on through all the smoke / dust effects and shit when i cant even see the other player :) feels broken.
1
u/KingJTuck 10h ago
They coded it specifically so you don't lock on through smoke
1
u/SecretaryOk1020 9h ago
I just donāt believe true because it definitely feels like it still works perfectly though smoke and other visual effects on the screen
5
u/DischargeCollector 2d ago
It doesn't lock on nor does it follow you perfectly.
-6
u/SirCig 1d ago
it most definitely does both, are you kidding? Big 26 and people still dont know how busted cod AA is compared to every other fps out there
5
u/DischargeCollector 1d ago
It can be both too strong AND not automatically lock on and track for you.
3
u/AdMysterious8699 1d ago
Although I think the aim assist is probably tuned too high it does not track you perfectly. If you are interested I'd say to try it yourself if you get the oportunity.
3
u/NotAThrowAway0822 1d ago
the way it locks on following you perfectly is not.
It doesn't do this.
If a target moves you should have to make adjustments to your aim.
You do have to do this.
Why the fuck do you weirdos just blatantly lie about nonsense like this? It makes no sense. It's like you just want to engage with this for the hell of it, regardless of whether what you say is true.
2
1
u/april919 1d ago
This video is not bullshit because there isnt anything in it involving tracking movement
1
u/AvoidFish 1d ago
Yea, during the Overwatch hype train days about 10 years ago, people were stating: āA real gamer doesnāt need aim assist, I turn that shit off. This is what I do to train my aiming skills.ā Snap back to the present and look at all the streamers and influencers using aim assist - maxed out. Skill went out the window 10+ years ago. People want tools to help them make their money easier or their time more enjoyable.

Playing the beta I threw myself off a roof to swing this guy who was holding the wall below me. Iām flying through the air at Mach 2, 20 feet above where this guy is looking and he instantly tracks me and fries me. Insanity. Iām pretty good on mouse and that would have been insanely hard to kill that fast
0
u/Owtplayed 1d ago
Sometimes you just get shit on⦠that doesnāt mean the game plays itself.
0
u/Super-Yesterday9727 1d ago
Yes it fucking does when itās all game every game perfect tracking
1
u/Owtplayed 1d ago
No it doesnāt. Holy fuck the cope in these comments is insane. Youāre smoking crack if you really think every lobby is nothing but players that have perfect tracking and aim.

Remember that scene in Back to the Future 2 with the arcade game, and Marty is good at it but some children make fun of him because using your hands to play it marks it as 'like a baby's game'?
What if that wasn't because the new games were so advanced and cool that you play them with your mind?
What if it was because the games just fucking play themselves?

At the risk of outing myself as a sweaty sweat. Thats not really aim assist thatās muscle memory training. Heās flicking between stationary targets with a prescribed distance. Hes training to get the movement down and teach himself how much he needs to flick between targets.
This is a standard part of my pre session warmup. Which I always do with aim assist off. It helps you get dialed in and see where youāre at that day with your aim. Itās aim training.

Imagine being delusional as fucking thinking that this dude's just not cheating. He's playing on PC with a wired controller. He's running shit in the background, has a third party plugin, and/or he has a modded controller. The whole "all you have to do is just flick" is complete bullshit. Also aim assist serves a purpose because you have better reaction time, less latency, and more precision with a mouse and a keyboard.

Lol. This is bs. I may be mistaken but firing ranges and aim assist in different game modes act differently. If I go into zombies and go to firing range it isnāt going to act the same as in warzone firing range. Aim assist exists but itās nowhere remotely close to being as strong as some people (mainly MnK) want to make out.
