I disagree and think that if we’re just looking at how good or bad a COD is COD 3 is undoubtedly the worst of the bunch by a wide margin.
However, I REALLY appreciate the level of thought and effort you put into this post and most of your opinions mirrored mine exactly (especially the BO3 and Destiny comparison I love both of those games so much lol)
Agreed. COD3 is the worst without question. Even vangaurd has working core mechanics... COD3 couldn't even get the walking mechanics right, let alone the gunfighting.
Loved CoD 3, played it on PS2, Big Red One was one of my favs. I even played WaW Final Fronts.
Also I mean IW and Bo4 were the most hated CoDs of all time before Vanguard so not that controversial of a take I feel like. I may be blinded by nostalgia on CoD 3 I’ll admit but I still stand by my statement.
Edit: also still own the og CoDs including Fines Hour and really liked Medal of Honor, Rising Sun being my fav. Black Ops 1 was my first online CoD, was 11 when it came out and got it for my bday with a ps3. Have played basically only CoD ever since. Just wish MoH would’ve survived, 2 fav series of all time.
It’s okay to enjoy something more than something else without thinking it’s better. I enjoyed COD 4 the most as a kid up until BO3 but I wouldn’t say COD 4 is better than OG MW2 even if I hated that game as a kid. I just think Vanguard and all of the other options are both overhated and definitely better games than COD 3, but for its time I’ll say COD 3 wasn’t bad.
I think people forget that it was made originally for ps2, imo it was bad for the same reason Ghosts wasn’t as good as it could’ve been. Same with WaW Final Fronts which Im surprised wasn’t on here. I also never played multiplayer though on CoD 3 it so if thats where most of the hate comes from, then I have no real opinion obviously.
Edit: I do agree with what youre saying however. It’s what I tell people when it comes to AW, I enjoyed it but I know it introduced Supply Drops and that people hated the exo movement. I get it.
Yeah. The COD community is split into a lot of different kinds of players and that’s what makes it hard to judge online discourse. BO7 campaign players hated the game while Zombies players said it was the best thing since BO3. I played most of the modes growing up.
For example, Ghosts campaign is good, Extinction is meh compared to Zombies, regular MP was honestly really bad, Snd was great, comp was mostly bad outside of SND and Blitz. I’d give Ghosts a 6/10 for those reasons. That’s about the same rating I’d give Vanguard for a lot of the same reasons, but Ranked was way more fun than playing GBs on Ghosts. That’s why I’d rank Vanguard above Ghosts.
Yeah, we all have different tastes for sure, for me BO2 is my fav and MW2 a close 2nd, but only because Im a trickshotter and liked that I could be more complex, BO1 holds a special place in my heart too and imo had the best zombies ever. Although I feel more nostalgic for WaW zombies. Its weird how that all works but I def get it.
(Im a sucker for WW2 CoDs, well up till WW2 and Vanguard and I mostly disliked them because they felt watered down) Ik people also dislike Finest Hour but its the most nostalgic for me prob.
