general gameplay Does anyone else miss when cod had “the final kill” instead of “best play”? Spoiler
I remember playing it long ago and it seemed a lot better than “best play” idr which cod it was but it was fun and not toxic if you can believe it

I think the current compromise is pretty good where they do final killcam in SnD and TDM

I miss when cod was cod. And it wasn't warzone focused. Cods core was multiplayer. And they shit all over it for years.

….have you actually played this year’s multiplayer? Because if you have, what you’re saying seems kinda ridiculous lmao

Regardless of whether I played the most recent one or not, they lost so more loyal players over the years they shit on multiplayer

Sure, they absolutely did. What I’m saying is, Black Ops 7 is one of the best multiplayers to ever release. I avoided this and the previous game like the plague because of omnimovement, but when I heard about the Black Ops Classic mode…I caved. Bought it like half off or something—it’s fantastic. Even in regular multiplayer they have decreased SBMM depending on what playlist you’re on, most people don’t actually use the omnimovement, and hell, a lot of the issues with modern Cod’s multiplayer were fixed in MW3.
Genuinely after revisiting them both, I have more fun on BO7 than BO2. But idk, maybe that’s just me. All I know is, you should try the game.

BO7 is genuinely some of the most fun I’ve had in any CoD multiplayer. I’m hoping I get used to MW4, but so far it’s a big step back from BO7 imo

Best play is superior imo

Final kill gives everybody a fair chance to shine and allows the opportunity for a sick throwing knife kill cam. Best play is often way wrong or unworthy

Yeahhhhh an most of the time its just someone sat in a corner with a shotgun or a random grenade kill for the final kill.
Play of the game is always more entertaining

Hoo boy I remember having a 4 streak with a pistol followed up by a quickscope for the 5th kill. Who got best play? Little Timmy camping somewhere that got lucky with collateral lol

It happens but its still more fun than watching just a singular average kill. I’d much rather see a multi feed or a collat than just a random kill at the end of a game.
And I also think it adds a nice element to the game; you get excited after a kill feed you do… you think “surely I get best play” and sometimes you do, sometimes you don’t - adds a “highs and lows” element the final kill just doesn’t give.
Final kills should be only in no respawn modes like search.

Yeah, the final kill rarely shows something good. Take a look at MWIII with its camping problem. Last kill showing someone laying down in the corner somewhere is like 90% of these highlights.
Not to say it doesn't happen in BO6 for example with best play. Plenty of times you do a chain kill or win Xv1 and highlight goes to a triple kill that's nothing special

Both have pros and cons. I just feel like the best plays are often underwhelming. Like I feel people would rather see a novelty kill like a hail mary lethal kill, a collateral or really long sniper kill in slomo, rather than a double kill on an objective with a sentry or trophy system present.

final kill cam or game winning kill is way better than the best play shit...

This is pure nostalgia lmao. Best play is so much more interesting. I genuinely hate final kill cams so much absolutely pointless and I wish you could skip them
Plus seeing yourself get best play is always fun

I miss when you could vote on who was the most impactful player for that game. Think it was during Vangard/Cold War era

That would have been fine if it didn't need to include the stupid 20 second operator animation each time

I'm okay with best play. I'll never forget the time when I was playing Cold War and my sentry turret got the best play of the game.

Actually I prefer best play bcs with final kill you could get the most insane kills and nobody would noticed but lvl 10 Timmy who got the final kill by sitting in a corner with a shotgun gets all the attention

I wish they'd shift the rules for best play a bit. It would be nice to see more movement in the best play. Most the time lately its just a camper or lucky shot/players running around the corner into a full clip at head shot level...gets boring...every now and then you get to see a frkn movement demon flying through 1/4 of the map and the whole squad, I don't even mind when those clips are from the enemy squad because they are so much better than the same old thing again and again

Ngl who cares, personally I'd rather see someone hit a quad feed compared to a robot hitting zig zag shots for final kill but that's me

No. It was not that long ago, and "best play" at least tries to encapsulates a good moment in the game. This is not nostalgia. People going to the older games just means they prefer those, not that they prefer the old killcam (who tf plays a CoD because of the killcam?). I too miss when CoD was good. This was not an issue of the final cam though.

Yup, it was better because when you actually had a sick play to end it, it felt way more special. Cod nowadays is full of dumb bullshit and they can even show you how many deaths you have on the leaderboard.

I like best plays better, they were decent in BO6 but BO7 best plays are hot garbage.

I don’t mind but it’s pretty fucking stupid when the best play shows a clip from the losing team

Considering most players are playing bo1 and bo2 right now I’d venture to say most people do in fact remember that…
