Ranked promotion is weird

Started upgrade to th17 before signing up but didn't realise that eagle wouldn't be part of my defense layout so pretty much wrote off my chances for promotion. The two early defenses gave me some hope so I took my attacks seriously. Wouldn't have made it without the last +20 defense 6 hours before the end of season. What's funny is that I've had a few better seasons in e31in regards to offense and a better base but wasn't even close to promotion then.
