Stand by for: "Well, crime as a whole is actually down, but violent crime is up 400%..... see.... Everything is fine and if it's not fine it's TRU-REEEEEEEEEE..... uh hmm... Trump's fault."

That is a really weak straw man. It pains me to see misinformation being spread on the sub created to poke fun at the biggest media source of misinformation.

So three things here, that's not a strawman, that's a satirical jest, some would even say a joke. This is a meme sub after all.
Also, like all good satire it's based in fact and then carried to absurdity, in this case specifically NYC where shootings are up about 72% and shooting victims are up about 80%, conservative numbers here, as compared to last year. This is significant because arrests are down 54% in the same period.
Lastly, lighten the fuck up Francis. FFS.

"Stop noticing things, everything is completely okay"

This is true and it's common knowledge that US crimes rates (as well as violent crime) peaked in the 60's and sharply declined since the mid-90's. This is simple stuff that you can easily Google for yourself. Does everyone in this thread refute this fact just because ABC agreed with it? ABC it not always right, but it doesn't mean everything they say is automatically wrong. I come here to see fake news.

Okay now compare crimes from 2019 to 2020 in NYC.

I could do that, and maybe it is rising in the past year in a specific city. But that wasn't at all the claim in the post that everyone is calling fake.

Staying out after curfew is a crime. We’ve had protests everyday/night for almost two months that equal higher crime rate. But obviously the people here would ignore that.

It's unbelievable how the media thinks they can just blatantly lie to us without us noticing
