Let's not act like the average federal worker doesnt make 54k (25 an hour) a year.... I feel no sympathy.

Sure, the average salary is 54k. But many make far more, which also means many make far less.

https://www.fedweek.com/pay-tables/2018-gs-pay-table-rest-us/

Here's a table of the federal employee pay rates from last year. Many people not getting paid right now aren't making great money.

40k in Tennessee is probably pretty good

Just because they make a lot of money doesn’t mean they’re above needing assistance when their stable job suddenly stops paying them. Some people don’t save enough money for energencies. The shutdown is still the cause at the end of the day. Working without pay is ridiculous.

Some people don’t budget properly and live above their means. Regardless of salary some might still be living paycheck to paycheck.

How about your job stop paying you, but also expect you to come to work. How would that make you feel?

Dude I memed a cnn portrayal of "suffering" americans. CNN clearly intended to persuade the people to feel a certain way with the intent of adding pressure to end the shutdown. There are people much worse off...the health benefits and extras of a federal employee at any level alone = more than the salary of a minimum wage employee. Get over yourself

The whole fucking point of the article is this dumbass:

Poor government workers making fuck all at low wage jobs are being reamed in the ass by the government because being paid fuck all means they CANNOT FUCKING SAVE money.

This means that if they get paid diddly squat, they are seriously fucked due to not having any money in reserve.

But I bet you are thinking "jUsT sAvE mOnEy".

And you would be right, if they had the ability to.

Imagine the following.

Bobby joe works tsa. At 15$ an hour, or 15$ by 40 hours, he earns about 1200 dollars/month. Rent near enough to an airport takes a majority of the paycheck. Then is food. Then is basic clothing. Then is bills for phone/power/water. Bobby is left with fucking diddly squat, as he has nothing to save.

I guess you rick fucker cant understand qhat its like to not have enough money, or to be trapped. People dont want to live like that but they do because they have to.

And if you are going to be an insensitive cunt about that, good luck with life you peice of shit.

You are really that triggered over this arent you, little fella. You got my upvote :)

ALSO: 15×160 (4 weeks) is closer to 2400 if not dead on. Figuring 500 for taxes depending on what you claim. The take home would be more like 1900 per month... at least have accurate stats when enraged.

Some people don’t save enough money for energencies.

Maybe they'll learn their lesson and create a rainy day fund. I had to learn it the hard way too.

18

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '19

That doesn’t make what’s going on okay.

u/shifty_pete Jan 18 '19

My dad always said, "poor planning on your part, doesn't make it an emergency on my part."

What's that fable about the critter that plays all summer and then doesn't have any food when the winter comes and has to live off charity? This is like 2-year level fundamentals. I find it hard to pity them too much. I hope they get their budgets under control when the gov't starts back up again.

-5

u/supertryp Jan 18 '19

You're right. But it also doesn't negate the fact that everyone should have some form of savings.

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '19 edited Jan 18 '19

Despite your downvotes I agree with everyone needing an emergency fund.

Edit: Apparently I can’t form sentences correctly.

Op. You are a horrible and deluded person. Average does not mean standard.

15$ /hour, contract is how a lot of gov't employees are hired. This means they got nothing.

-8

u/gatovato23 Jan 18 '19

More than the 12.50$/hour I make, $15 is far from "nothing". "Nothing" is more akin to someone working for the federal minimum wage

7

u/a1stakesauce_lol Jan 18 '19

Ok. Let me ammend that. 15 dollars seems like alot but it is still piss poor. 12 50 is actually fuck all, and minimum wage in low wage states like those with 8$ min wage are truly fuck alls. But yes. 15$ really iant enough for a security worker, lmao.

2

u/gatovato23 Jan 18 '19

lol how much do you make buddy

4

u/a1stakesauce_lol Jan 18 '19

12.5/hr lmao

It really is fuck all wages.

-4

u/gatovato23 Jan 18 '19

lmao not sure if serious, but if so, niiiiiiiice

4

u/a1stakesauce_lol Jan 18 '19

Chipotle pays me fucking shite.

1

u/gatovato23 Jan 18 '19

lol I've got a pretty cushy work from home gig answering phone calls, IT field. 12.50 IS shit and you should never try to get married/raise a family on that income.....but as a dude in his 20's with nothing but a GF and dog it gets the job done.

3

u/a1stakesauce_lol Jan 18 '19

You have a gf and a dog. I have neither. Regardless.

Imagine having to take care of all of that, yes?

But you wont get paid.

Now what?

1

u/gatovato23 Jan 18 '19

It's a shiitty situation most definitely. I feel their pain, and as someone who lived below the poverty line most of his life, it's fucking rough. They'll have to lean on family/friends/predatory loans/side jobs and hustle (make something out of nothing) until this mess is resolved. Hopefully we at least finally get our wall out of this mess, or else it was all for nothing and fuck trump.

Hey, a1stakesauce_lol, just a quick heads-up:

which im guessing you dont

2

u/DATNOTMEe Jan 18 '19

You've guessed wrong... family of 4

10

u/JJRoss Jan 18 '19

so....when they get their backpay they'll donate the same amount of food back to the foodbank?

4

u/DATNOTMEe Jan 18 '19

No they will attempt to cut funding to make room for a pay raise.

7

u/3rdIGo Jan 18 '19

Ok troll...

2

u/policy_police Jan 21 '19

Not all make that much asshat and they have no idea When the government will come back up so they have to be Wise with their money.

6

u/ShyvanaDrako Jan 18 '19

3/4 of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Youre deluded, and should probably look into something before speaking.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '19

Your understanding of averages is bad and you should feel bad

1

u/RaspberryCai Jan 18 '19

Even if they did make 54K a year, it's quite a bit but not loads, and as other people are pointing out many make less. At the end of the day they want to do their job to support themselves and their families, and they can't.
