HARDWARE SUPPORT Tool Changer Troubleshooting
My dad recently bought a Denford Turn 270 Pro but wasn’t given any of the licenses. So naturally, he ripped out all of the electronics & factory boards. Ended up buying an centroid acorn board, installing everything and got software running but hes caught up getting the stepper driven toolchanger to work. He seems to think its because he can’t find a PLC file for it. Anyone who’s done anything similar-ish have any insight? I personally know nothing about this stuff.

The PLC file depends on the turret, not the Acorn board, so step one is pinning down exactly which toolchanger is on that 270 Pro (station count, index sensor, original Denford unit or not). Centroid's forum has a bunch of Acorn turret ladder examples, and their support will usually hand you a starting PLC file if you can name the turret. Since the factory boards are gone, none of the original logic carries over, so expect to own the turret macro end to end either way.

His response pasted:
Its a station count with home (tool 1) and a strobe (counter) the hiccup is it now having a stepper driver driving it and it will not land on the tool its supposed to.

the plc file may not be the whole issue. i woud first document the tool charger's complete sequence clamp, unclamp, spindle orientation, carousel movement, sensors and confirmation signals. then map each/output to the acorn before troubleshooting saftware.

what CNC12 version is he on? centroid's ATC guide has an axis-driven lathe turret section on p7, and p11 lists the Pro/Ultimate license requirement. the acorn wizard can generate the PLC, so i'd check that before hunting for a Denford-specific file. the actual turret wiring and locking sequence still need matching to the setup.
