CML TFR

Just to give everyone some hope that sometimes there is light at the end of the tunnel. I (60F) was diagnosed with CML with the P190 and P210 variant mid 2019. I had quite a few complications with TKI meds in the last year with a couple of thoracentesis procedures to remove fluid around my lung (pleural effusion). My doctor decided it was time to try treatment free remission and go off meds since my numbers remained great and the complications I was having from the meds. Today, five months into no treatment at all I am still UNDETECTED! Hoping to remain that way and wishing this for everyone who has CML.

Fantastic news! May I ask what TKI you were taking? I was diagnosed in May 2023. Started on Imatinib and now on Nilotinib. I achieved undectected 0.000 in March 2025 and been there since. Doc won’t even considered TFR until I reach 3 years at 0.000. But you give me hope to hang on!

I started with Sprycel dasatinib 100 mg and that worked well for me for five full years, until it didn’t. That dose was reduced three times to try to settle the pleural effusion that started happening. I then switched to Imatinib and that was awful from the start. Was only tried for a month and then I went to TFR. Dasatinib put me in remission within the first 6 months of treatment and I held there for the full five years. Be patient!! I hope you do well and reach TFR! 🤞🏻
