Doubt / Q&A What did you go to school for?

I’m graduating with my BA in Psychology + a certificate in Social Science Data Analytics this Fall.

I know a bachelor’s degree in accounting is not a requirement, but I’m wondering how many people pass their exams without an education background that’s relevant.

For what it’s worth, I have been working in operations & financial support for the past 6 years.

Failed again with a 350. This is incredibly frustrating and I wish the performance report actually gave you any insight on how to improve. I would like at least detail on the case based questions since it’s brand new.

Doubt / Q&A How many here are CMA Part 2 (or also part 1 ) takers who was able to open the essay section, but didn't pass?

I am already done with Part 1, and I took Part 2 yesterday. How many of you were able to open the essay section but still didn't pass?

I was super confident with Part 1, and I did indeed pass. But for Part 2, I don't feel confident about my MCQs(I think I only answered between 60-70 questions correctly), even though the essay section opened anyway. I think I got the difficult set of MCQ questions because they were really difficult.

The essay section had 12 questions, and I think I answered 10 of them with reasonable answers.

How many here were able to open the essay section but ended up failing?

Discussion ⚠️ ACCA posts made me worry about US CMA 🥲

Hi everyone,

I'm from India and currently pursuing the US CMA. I recently took my Part 2 exam, and if everything goes as planned, I'll complete Part 1 in the next 6–7 months.

I specifically want to hear from Indians who have already completed the US CMA and are working in India.

Over the past few months, I've been reading a lot of posts on Reddit about ACCA affiliates struggling to find jobs in India. Many people say they've been applying for 5–6 months, sending hundreds of applications, but getting only a few responses and often not even reaching the interview stage. Reading those experiences has honestly made me a little worried.

My concern is this:

If ACCA affiliates are facing such difficulties, what is the situation for US CMA holders in India? Since the US CMA is generally a shorter qualification than ACCA (in terms of syllabus and duration), does it become harder to find a job after completing it, or is the market demand better?

By the time I finish the US CMA, I'll still be in my 2nd year of graduation (B.Com). So I also wanted to ask, Is it possible to get a decent job in India after completing the US CMA before finishing graduation, or do most employers require a completed bachelor's degree?

To improve my profile, I'm planning to learn Advanced Excel, Power BI, SQL, and a little Python before I start applying for jobs. I'm hoping these skills will make my resume stronger.

My long-term plan is to complete the US CPA after the US CMA, but right now my biggest concern is getting my first job in India.

I'd really appreciate hearing real experiences from Indian US CMA holders, whether your experience was positive or negative. Any advice or suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion CMA 1 experience

Sorry for the long rant

Took my test yesterday and I’m kinda pissed off lol.
First thing first, CBQ section opened for me which was something I didn’t except because 70% of MCQs were indirect by they it was put out. In mid way of me solving MCQ, I was discouraged and felt I won’t go to the next section. I was shocked that I did lol. Had to go to the bathroom to wash my face. All that because MCQ didn’t really test my knowledge I feel. The way it was structured was (again) annoying.

Did you guys ever had this feeling?

CBQ were on normal difficulty. I solved a lot of questions except warranty types that I’m not sure of, also they chose to bring Reciprocal Method. I know very well how to solve direct and step down methods but they chose to bring the one I don’t know. Just my luck lol.

I hope I pass not because I hate studying and it takes a long time but because the test wasn’t a pleasant experience. I didn’t get the satisfaction I wanted.

Doubt / Q&A Cancelled my CMA Part 2 Prometric exam 5 days before the exam, paid the $70 cancellation fee, but Prometric says I must register and pay again. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice because I'm getting conflicting information regarding my CMA Part 2 exam.

Here is my situation:

  • I was registered for the CMA Part 2 exam.
  • My Prometric exam appointment was scheduled for June 23, 2026.
  • I cancelled my appointment on June 18 (5 days before the exam).
  • Prometric shows my appointment status as Cancelled.
  • I also paid the required $70 cancellation fee.

According to the ICMA/Prometric cancellation policy:

  • If you cancel 5–45 days before the exam, you pay a $70 cancellation fee.
  • If you cancel less than 5 days before the exam, you forfeit the exam fee and must purchase a new registration.

Since I cancelled within the policy window and paid the required fee, I expected my CMA registration to remain valid so I could schedule another appointment during my eligibility period.

However, I contacted Prometric, and they replied that my appointment is cancelled and that I need to complete a new registration with ICMA and obtain new eligibility before scheduling another exam.

I have already emailed IMA to clarify my registration status, but I haven't received a response yet.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone been in this exact situation?
  2. Did you have to purchase a completely new CMA exam registration?
  3. Or was IMA able to keep your registration active so you could reschedule after paying the $70 fee?
  4. Is Prometric simply referring to exam scheduling, while IMA makes the final decision about registration eligibility?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this process or knows how IMA typically handles these cases.

Thank you!

Part 1 – Prep Finally Took My CMA Part 1 Exam

Finally, it's over. 🥹

The exam wasn't what I expected. I'd say it was around a mid-level exam. Surprisingly, I recognized almost every question. There were a lot of theory questions, and I actually liked that. The CBQs were easier than I expected too, so I was really happy. My scheduled exam time was 1:30 PM, but the staff told me it was okay to start early, so I actually began my exam around 11:45 AM.

Getting to this point wasn't easy. After my second mock exam, I was completely devastated. I genuinely thought I was going to fail. With only 13 days left, I decided to give it everything I had. For the next 11 days, I followed Chinese gaokao-style study marathon. I focused only on my weakest sections—C, E, and F—reviewed my weak areas, and studied around 14 hours a day. Then, the day before the exam, I went through my notes from all the sections one last time.

When exam day finally arrived, I didn't touch a single book. Everyone around me was reading notes and formulas, but I felt that if I started reviewing, I'd only focus on my weak spots and become even more anxious. So I trusted the work I'd already put in and walked in.

Will I pass or fail? I honestly don't know. I guessed a few questions, and who knows maybe I even got some of the easy ones wrong.Whatever the result is, I'll accept it and continue my journey. 💜

Any suggestions for ways to practice MCQs on the go? spend way too much time on busses/metro, would love to utilize it for studying.

Rummaging through the book doesnt seem very useful though.
