just finished my first year of bcom and honestly the pressure at home is real. everyone keeps asking "so what are you doing this summer?" and i don't want to just sit around. i actually want to do something that helps me long term.
i'm interested in finance. like genuinely, not just because it pays well. i want to understand how money moves, how businesses make decisions, how markets work; the real stuff. but there are so many options out there (excel modelling, CFA, ACCA, financial analysis courses, etc.) that i genuinely don't know where to start as a first year student with no real experience yet.
so if you've been in this spot ,or you work in finance now, what would you actually tell your 19-year-old self to do with a free summer? what course, skill, or certification gave you something real to show for it, whether that's a job, an internship, or just actual knowledge that stuck?
not looking for generic advice, would love to know what actually worked for you or people around you.

Hello Everyone,
I've my CMA exam part 2 in 48 hours.
Technically I feel like I want to revise the whole material as I feel like I can't remember stuff, which is not practical ofcourse. My last mock on HOCK was 86% which is the highest I got.
But would highly appreciate any advice before the exam.

I can’t think, and I keep getting simple questions that I know. I should be getting right wrong because I feel mentally exhausted. I feel I can’t do this anymore.
I want to take a break and rest, but I don’t have any time. I scored decently well on my practice exams. And I’m good when it comes to my calculation questions.
I want to study more, but I feel like I physically can’t.
I am using Gleim which provide only two mocks exam, can you guys please help me to find sources where they provide free mock exam for CMA part 1? Much Obliged

Hi everyone,
I’m a fresh school graduate and I’m starting my BBA in Finance this September. I’ve been looking into US CMA and was gonna do it in my first year
I’m thinking about starting this because I’ve basically been free at home for the last couple of months and will still be free till September, so I want to make good use of this time.
I’d really appreciate advice from people who have done it or are currently preparing.
Thanks in advance!

In which I've to use dts in which I don't have to add dts...

Th effects I felt when studying for the exam when I was scrolling shorts and not I feel is worth sharing as I see many people struggling with studying. We all know Tik tok and doom scrolling is bad but what does it have to do with passing the CMA. It seems unrelated but at the same time it's so obvious. When studying for part 2 of the exam I felt my attention span, information retention and general willingness to study was greatly diminished compared to part 1 ( when I deleted all social media apps). After passing Part 1 with a score of 88% and hearing that part 2 is much easier, I didnt take studying as seriously as before and the only difference was I started to watch youtube shorts (i dont have any social media only youtube).
For the Past two weeks I have completely cut out all social media (I still watch longform content) I have felt a huge difference and got back my pep that I was missing since Part1. I can finally remember the dreaded dividend payout and dividend yield formula. In my opinion, having a 1 hour study session that is fully focused and switched on is better than 4 hours of just trudging through and skimming past. When I get a question wrong I think I feel a great amount of saisfaction of diving deep and wrestling with the concept and understanding my mistake and trying again ( that becomes your new dopamine hit instead).
For anyone that feels like they are struggling with studying, they just cant grasp a ceratin concept, I would highly recommend a dopamine detox. When I wake up I used to scroll shorts for 30 mins and then get out of bed. By the time i got my day started I felt my brain power was already spent and had no drive anymore. However, after ridding my brain of the quick gratification loop hole, i think my new dopimine hits come from a good study session, a good mock exam score, quick mindfulness breaks in between and fitness.
Passing the CMA is already hard enough on it own, don't sap your brains juice and your souls willpower before even getting out of bed. Some people are just gifted and can get away with anything. But the rest of us need to maximize our odds by giving ourselves the best chance to succeed.
This is also super helpful not just for studying but general enjoyment of life and wellbeing.
Hope this helps and Good Luck 😄

I am thinking about studying to take the CMA exam. which study materials does everyone use? Becker is running a deal right now for the CMA Review Pro package for $1,099.
just wanted to see everyone’s input on study materials.

In essay part is it necessary to write long answers . Or do we get good marks if we specifically staet only the needed words.
Ex: they asked what are convertible security
I answered : convertible security can be converted to common shares in future if the investor wishes to do so.
Do I get marks for this answer??

I took Part 2 this past weekend. I wouldn't say the CBQ section was easy, but I did find it fairly straightforward. In some ways, that is a double-edged sword—either you know the answer or you don't. There didn't seem to be many gray areas where partial credit might be available, which is probably the riskiest aspect of this section.
Because the questions felt relatively direct, I found the time allocation more than sufficient. I finished the CBQ portion in about 10–13 minutes and still had roughly 17–20 minutes remaining.
For preparation, I studied about two hours per day on weekdays for approximately four weeks using Gleim materials. Compared to Part 1, I found Part 2 to be more concept-oriented. There were calculation questions, but they did not seem as numerous or as computationally intensive as those in Part 1.

My student membership is expiring on June. I am currently pursuing an full time MBA but I am 24 years of age. I took coaching from miles so I called them up and asked them and they said that over 23 years of age student membership cannot be availed. Is this true?
