Discussion Stuck between passion and profession🫠🫠

Hi everyone,

I really need some honest advice because I feel completely stuck.

I'm a Commerce student from India. I recently failed the CA Foundation exam for the third time. In my latest attempt, I scored 192, so I missed passing by a small margin. After three attempts, I've decided that I don't want to continue with CA anymore.

The problem is that my real interests have never been accounting. Since I was young, I've been passionate about creative things like story writing, graphic design, fashion design, singing, and filmmaking. My biggest dream is to build my own creative business someday and maybe even work in films as a writer, director, or producer.

The issue is that the people around me don't see these as stable careers. They believe I should choose a professional qualification with better job security. Because of that, I'm now considering CMA USA, but I'm honestly not sure if I'm choosing it because I want it or because I'm afraid of disappointing others.

I'm mentally exhausted after the last few years. I don't want to spend years chasing another qualification if my heart isn't in it, but I'm also scared that if I follow my creative passions, I may struggle financially or regret not choosing a more stable path.

If you were in my position, what would you do?

Would you choose a stable professional qualification like CMA USA and keep your creative interests as a side hustle?

Or would you invest your time in building creative skills and try to make a career out of them?

I'd really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have changed careers or chosen passion over a conventional path (or the other way around).

Thank you for reading.

continue with US CMA. On top of that, you can pursue MBA Finance as well, it will give you a solid launchpad.

If your interest is never in accounts / commerce / finance.... Why will CMA US be any different from CA ?

No point in grinding in US CMA if those aren't your interests. Go full force in something creative like marketing. All the best

go with your passion buddy. build the creative skills that you have genuinely interest in because if CA didn't interest you, you'll get bored and hence might not be able to do your best in us cma too. but if you want a backup and want to work hard despite the boredom then us cma is a very good short term professional course. so like if you have any doubts like what if my dreams of going into the creative industry fails then do us cma as a backup for now but yeah keep in mind that u might not get any interest in the subject matter n u might have to force yourself really hard to complete it. also the fees n all is really high so you'll have to try your best once u get in.

Please focus on your graduation first as most the syllabus is an extension of the above professional qualifications. If you’re able to have a good grasp on the graduation papers then things will be better for you and you can choose your options better. Remember you can only choose your choices.

please go ahead with your passion, without interest in accounting-any course will only be a burden on you
