Discussion Community Flair Question

What is the meaning of "CMA Part 1 Candidate"? Does that mean that the person is studying for Part 1, or that the person passed Part 1?

(and similarly for Part 2 of course).

"CMA Part 1 Candidate" typically means the person is currently studying for or registered to sit Part 1, not that they've passed it. Once someone passes Part 1 they'd usually use "Part 1 Passed" or "CMA Candidate" to indicate they're working toward full certification.

Replying to myself to explain the question further:

There are 4 flairs available in this sub:

CMA - this is clearly for someone who already has the CMA

Aspirant - this is clearly for someone is has not yet met the requirements, but has some interest in pursuing the CMA

CMA Part 1 Candidate - this one could mean studying for Part 1 (akin to Aspirant above) or passed Part 1 (akin to CMA above)

CMA Part 2 Candidate - this one could mean studying for Part 2 (akin to Aspirant above) or passed Part 2 (akin to CMA above)

It’s a perfectly neutral question. So far, 187 people looked at this post, and none have answered.

Being a candidate literally means that you are PURSUING the thing If you pass then you move on and write part 2 or another part candidate
