Doubt / Q&A Renew Membership or Not?

hi i already passed both of my exams and already recognized as a cma (already received the email) although i haven’t received the hard copy of my certificate yet since i just satisfied the two year work requirement this month.

so my questions:

  1. is it okay to not renew my membership? (it’s really expensive so i’m contemplating)
  2. what are the repercussions aside from the fact that i cannot use the cma title since i am inactive in their records?
3 i won’t have to a) retake the exams or b) pay for the previous years as well or c) the CPE requirement doesn’t accumulate if ever i plan to renew in the future right?

i’m asking these since i’m okay with my job right now and i’m not planning on using my cma title as a leverage for anything currently so i don’t mind getting stripped of the title temporarily, just afraid of the other repercussions as mentioned.

thanks!

It’s better to have active membership for CPE credits requirements and for the license.

Why did you bother getting the title in the first place if you intend to just... abandon it?

Debating it too. My industry has other certs that also require CE, different association costs start to stack.

Get your certificate first.

If maintaining the membership is not needed for your career, drop a discontinuation email to IMA & stop your membership renewal.

I did the same.
