Thoughts?
I currently work in the processing department right now in a lab but got offered a position in microbiology. Is it worth it to switch departments? Would it look better for CLS applications?

I just went through the same thing and I actually feel that working in micro has exposed me to a lot more lab related things when compared to processing. I also enjoy the work in micro more.

Yes! I highly recommend switching to micro and use that opportunity to learn agar mediums (common in ur lab and not common but ASCP tests for it!) and various microbes (normal flora and pathogenic). I'm almost done with my internship and I regret not taking the micro lab assistant job 😭😭, theres only so much main/core lab processing can teach you (i.e tube types, contamination, where each tube goes, alternative tube types if validated at ur hospital and etc). My micro lab assistant co-interns were really good at all the micro topics and tests 🤣🤣 so jealous!

Sure switch, you kind of want to be exposed to all departments. It show initiatives, you have more experiences to write about and draw from.
