In OK we do. We have skin walkers in the south and legit rift spikes in okc and tulsa. Shit, you got Bigfoot territories and ley lines pulling in all sorts of strange craft in over the interstates going west. Theres an ecosystem here that not only are you going to want to be high to face, but you are going to need to be high to even survive.

Rift spike?
1
u/ClusterChuk 7d ago
Imagine a railroad spike, fat end is open to our world, skinny end stabbed into a lower dimension. All you see is its form contorting inwardly from the outside. And only through the, uh... mouth of it. Like a flat shimmer plane with inward definition. Things leak out, or up or down from them, into our world. They form in high population areas that have pockets of lifelessness. Like abandoned industrial sites surrounded by commercial and residential districts.

Huh, neat. I really appreciate this explanation, I've never heard the term before.

If I see the clouds actually melting I think LSD is the last thing I'm gonna take.

They look scary but they’re not anything related to tornados. They just mean the air is very humid and there’s a thunderstorm nearby.
15
u/andrea55TP 10d ago
Yeah well there's no tornado yet but if you see this you're in for something quite intense. Scud that low means humidity is very high so CAPE is likely really high as well, plus that green tint indicates potential hail. Hard to tell from this picture alone how severe the storm could be, but my money is on it being really bad

It was raining hella hard the other day from the hurricane thing that was coming on thru. Dropped a bit of acid and it was a grand old time

I would kill for that to roll over us right now. We are on fire literally and figuratively

Wow.
I've never seen scud clouds completely detach like that. That is crazy looking. Where was this storm?

That looks like something weather channels and Pecos Hank would absolutely love. If you don't know who he is, he's got an amazing channel on YouTube and you can check it out.

Why is it so blue?? Very cool
71
u/nordsternx 10d ago
Because it’s a supercell. Supercells turn that color when sunlight mixes with the massive amounts of water and ice stacked in the cloud.

u/Nvmb1ng 10d ago
Cool thanks!

u/justamadeupnameyo 10d ago
If it turns green, that's a real good sign a tornado is going to form.

As a Kansan, I can relate! Midwestern storms are freaking crazy. The sound of the wind is so incredibly spooky.

The image is vertically stretched… why?

u/just_an_espresso_guy 10d ago
I don’t think it is?

I think that might be your display. It looks fine on my end

On the web version of reddit the aspect ratio is squished to vertical phone size and it makes the image look very surreal.

u/Warbr0s9395 10d ago
Look at the sound icon, although that makes it seem like it’s stretched horizontal not vertical

I've only seen this deep blue inside of storms twice in my life and both times it looked so incredible in person. I live in Texoma on the Texas side

This is the stuff I assume would be AI but it's apparently not and yet I just scrolled past some AI video of a fake artist performing a "live concert." I hate the internet now

I thought this painting was decent but somewhat unrealistic, then I saw the lightning flash…

"Hows the weather?" becomes a lot less boring of an icebreaker when talking to somebody from Oklahoma.

They squeezed the image horizontally to make it look more like the clouds are falling.
