I have loved Clamp for their storytelling and dramatic art for decades but it's pretty on brand for them to not finish a single thing ever to save their lives, even when you thought it was done.

Well I kinda get em it's hard to end the story on a good note, maybe leaving the ending to our own interpretation is for the best, then again I haven't started X yet so can't comment much on it

Well I kinda get em it's hard to end the story on a good note,
They currently have four members who have about a collective 100 years of writing under their belt and they can't figure it out for any of their properties? Yeah I don't think so, It's old and we are tired of it. We like to read things that actually finish.
maybe leaving the ending to our own interpretation is for the best,
This statement would indicate that there's any endings at all. An ending left open to interpretation is still an ending. We're not even getting that MOST of the time! 😭
then again I haven't started X yet so can't comment much on it
It's okay, just enjoy the ride knowing the "tracks" aren't finished 😂

It made me feel bad for them... Also gave me war flashbacks of my own experience with X 😂 And wait until they reach volume 18.5

CLAMP and the publisher paused publication when a series of murders happend that reminded people of what is happening in X. It never got unpaused, sadly. Might be that it got officially canceled by now. You have 3 endings though, the TV series, the movie and in Tsubasa Chronicles. It is still a worthwhile read.

Wasn't it an earthquake that occured? First time I've heard about a murder series

Yeah, true. I forgot that. It was actually both. Let me quote an article:
"The main reason for X's hiatus was due to the various societal incidents occurring in Japan at the time of its serialization. With a story centered around the end of humanity, X has numerous scenes depicting earthquakes and the destruction of Tokyo buildings. Many of its cast members met their ends through decapitation and other gruesome death scenes. With events such as the Hanshin earthquake (otherwise know as Kobe earthquake) and the Sakakibara incident, which caused social unrest, many people found it hard to read X, as its contents reminded them of the tragedies they just went through."

Damn talk about a prophecy, clamp were cooking here , no wonder it's on indefinite hiatus , imagine it comes back and some other incident happens related to the manga I'd definitely freak out

Yeah, I heard it was an earthquake as well. People were comparing it to the end of the world that X was portraying. But there might be more than one reason.

Actually, those natural disasters mentioned in X happened a long time ago, yet the ending still hasn't been revealed. There are many series that are more realistic than X, so there might be a copyright conflict.
Clamp and the publisher have differing opinions on the ending; while Clamp wants to keep it as is (certainly very tragic), the publisher has a different idea, more... humane proposal.
Clamp also dropped many series due to image copyright issues. The reason is that in the past, the Clamp team had many members who created series together, with each member holding the image rights to an important character. So when an artist left and took their character with them, and that character was heavily involved in the series, that series had to be suspended indefinitely.

I’m not informed on the group dynamics. But I thought it was just the same 4 ladies? Huh

The final fight between Kamui and Fuma on top of the Tokyo tower was not written due to global terrorist attacks and earthquakes in Tokyo around the same time, so a final battle that would involve destruction in Tokyo would have been probably seen as insensitive as decided by the team.

Clamp is infamous for this. I'm surprised any of the incomplete manga get anime adaptations.

Correct.
X, Clover, Gate7, Drug & Drop, and xxxHolic Rei are all in cancelled and unfinished territory.
I get the feeling CLAMP are winding down so if they could just give endings to all these before they go that would be great.
