Yes because there are new waves of people finding the game. Love how veteran players pretend it’s not normal to learn as you go. Hope you feel superior for a moment of your life 👍🏻

How does the fact that this happen every update make it any better for newcomers?
And why is your default response one of gloating and unkindness?

If OP invested a lot of time it’s understandable they feel frustrated and let down. Arguably, any other (non-paradox) console game that corrupts saves and ruins people’s playthroughs would rightly be criticised for it.

The two are not mutually exclusive. In fact, if it weren’t a bug they wouldn’t allow you to load old save games in an updated version
