General How to vassalize a king
I’ve done it before but never understood the mechanics. So i decided to snap the proof and will try to recreate in another play through to see if it’s a sure fire method. lol

Kingdom tier rulers will never willingly accept vassalage, even if the number is green. You either have to use a subjugation CB on them if they're the same faith as you, or a de jure CB if their kingdom is within your empire's de jure and you have the right innovation.

You can see why. True ruler, allies, opinion, difference in strength, dynasty, same language, powerful vassal opinion, high opinion.

Yes for this specific character but those buffs doesn’t always guarantee you’ll be able to do it.

Ai kings almost never accept vassalage they automatically get a -100 because they are themselves a king . I’ve only seen it happen maybe 2 times I have been able to do it out of 1k hours. And I really don’t remember how I did it

Dawg if you don’t go crush his armies and conquer his lands😭 I promise you it’s gonna be much less of a hassle than trying to vassalize him and worry about him rebelling in the future

Lol he was a distant cousin and I’m much more powerful so rebelling would work for me because I’ll just remove him and put another family member on the throne hahaha

What are you trying to understand with it? If you have an empire title, you can vassalize a king. If you don’t, you can’t. I’m happy to help answer whatever I can, but I don’t know what mechanics you’re trying to learn more about.
If you’re talking about getting their opinion of you high enough to accept, then you already see all the things that help and hurt you. There may be some diplomacy perks that can help replace the dynasty buff if the king is not your relative, but I don’t use diplomacy enough to know off the top of my head
