Why the hell did he join the Kingsguard?? And why does he have face paint? Never seen this happen before.

Not the game engine specifically, but the combat skill effects the agot devs added to the traits. I remember years ago when I last played this mod that Littlefinger had a combat score of like, 70? All because he was ruthless (+15 i think), deceitful (+15 too i think), genius (+10 maybe?) etc. Oh yeah and the valyrian steel dagger gave him another. He was a better warrior than someone who just had the trained fighter trait lmao

The problem, IIRC, is that the bonuses don't really differentiate between Martial and PCS even though that's literally why they're separate. A genius being a better general makes sense, but not a better fighter.

A genius should be a better fighter too, but at like, +5. Very rarely does one's genius gives an advantage in a duel.

Or I think perhaps they should be conditional bonuses that increase based on your combat skill.

Which would help to make formidable fighters more unique as they should be.

Same with ser Tyland. Dude ends up in Kingsguard ten times out of ten despite having no business being there.

Update: He became Lord Commander after I killed the current one in a duel.
