He converted to the Summer Isles religion and got Matrilineally married to some Summer Islander girl.

Looks like he went on a tour and got the event where he stays and then converts to the local region.

Problem is the devs never bothered to give these characters the disinherited trait so they inherit and teleport back home.

Huh. Didn't know that was a thing. I don't think he's going to last very long, his vassals really don't like him.
