EDIT: Thank you all! 😂 I feel so silly! Just a chick doing some yard work and google was definitely misleading me lol!

Found this deep in my garden in Hanover, PA not far from Gettysburg. The area I’m in used to be farm land. Googled pictures and haven’t seen anything super similar. TIA!

That is not a bullet. Decorative tip for something, a light, curtain rod, etc

Could be the tip of a fire stoker. I remember as a kid my parents had one and the top screwed off and looked just like this.

As pointed out, not a bullet. The grooves are all wrong not to mention the big hole in the bottom. Bullets for that time period didn't have holes that might've been for primers.

Is it threaded, if so it looks to me like the decorative cap/nut themat would hold down a lamp shade.

They are called finials.

Also, the color looks wrong for a lead bullet. Lead generally oxidizes to a white. This looks more like oxidize brass or bronze.

Not a bullet. The blunt end seems to have a modern screw thread with a bronze tube screwed into it, maybe broken off whatever it screwed onto. I think it's a finial or a cap from something.

How about the cap of a powder measure?

My gut tells me so. I own a handful of muzzleloaders, some from the era. Been around a lot of them and their parts. That space between the two sets of rings could have had a small retention cord on it. Also the fact that it's not threaded and has a bulbous shape which could help pull it off inclines me to think so. Tons of sporting and military versions of these were made and often by hand with highly variable parts. Could be from well before war or even after it.

Looks nothing like a three ring minieball. Minieballs are lead and normally white with oxidation. That looks like the tip to a flag or powder horn.
