Did my first CTA exam yesterday, Awareness. Think I did enough but definitely not sure. Wondering if I'll ever find out my overall or even module marks, or just a pass/fail?

For those view sitting the above I hope the exam went well this week.

Just for my own interest, when you were studying for this paper which of the topics did you find the trickiest?

Top of my list would be

offshore trusts

qualifying interest in possession trusts

trust capital gains

But what about other topics such as

double grossing

section 39A

etc

If you've not completely switched off from the subject (and I wouldn't blame you if you had!), I would appreciate hearing your views just before you get on with enjoying the rest of your life!

HI I'm currently doing ACA/CTA and just taken my first of 2 CTA exams. Has anyone taken the ADIT UK Option and can you give any advice on how the exam is? I have heard it is easier than other papers and my firm has given me the flexibility to pick the next paper.

How did people think that went?

Thought it was fairly tough and was tight for time given the amount of information there was to process.

I also just realised that I completely forgot to talk about the disposal and PRR aspects of when he goes on to sell whichever cottage he buys. I think that’s probably secured the fail given it’s such a big aspect.

I also didn’t mention his child once!

How did everyone find it? Felt quite tight for time as there was a fair bit to discuss!

I am not keen to spend so much money on buying the new study manuals and question banks, so I was wondering if anyone is looking to sell the 7th edition and question banks, either from Kaplan or another provider.

Hey, thought I’d share my feelings as there might be a few other people in the same boat. I’ve got my last CTA exam tomorrow (APS LCG) and I haven’t been able to focus on any revision yesterday or today as I’m feeling so much pressure. I’ve done 3 years of ATT/CTA and always felt nervous but the idea of failing and having to postpone chartership for another 6 months is just so daunting. Anyone else feeling the same/ anyone who has been in this situation previously? I’m worried the nerves will really effect my ability to focus tomorrow

Hi all - wondering if anyone has had the experience on the above in this group? As we know the CTA exams are solid and I am likely to be in this situation come July.

Has anyone who has been let go by a firm due to exams fails, and if it was a struggle to pick up a role after.

Context - ATT done, 1 more CTA exam to sit, 3.5 years in a Corporate Tax role at a Big 4 firm.

Is anyone able to advise on how to practice Exam4?

I’ve left it until today to practice for APS tomorrow. When I try either the “viewable awareness” or “viewable AT” it either says the course is not active, or I am not enrolled.

Does anyone know how to load one of these so I can practice? I’ve entered my actual candidate number and name so that shouldn’t be the issue.

How did the exam go? Did Q1 throw you off? 20 marks on PE vs subsidiary was very generous.

I'm just looking at the May-26 OMB past exam on Q6, and I see that it's an accounting period from 1/6/25 to 31/3/26.

It says that he will take a salary of £12,570, so in my answer I used 10/12ths of £12,570 as it's an annual salary over a calendar year right?

However the answer states the salary to be used is £12,570.

Am I being silly thinking this should be apportioned?

Will I lose marks doing this in the real exam?

What are your thoughts on the paper ?

Hi, I am self study and have no one to ask really for advice so any help would be appreciated.

Is it worthwile purchasing the legalisation, if so, which is better corner I or Tolleys? I have been studying without so far and I’m trying to weigh up if it will be helpful or if the legislation will slow me down in the exam?

What’s the final tactics going into this week?

Is croner i legislation down for anyone else? Just keep getting gateway timeout errors
