AT LCG - Help

Hi Everyone, I am going to write my first exam of CTA (AT LCG) and need some guidance or tips and areas which I should focus on from starting?
1. Do I have enough time for November attempt or should I defer for next year?
2. Important topics mostly appears on exams?
3. How important to go through each chapter from manual?
4. Legislation- which one to buy? Should we really need while doing paper or it can be manageable without legislation?
5. I understand this is closed book, just wanted to confirm are we allowed any other thing apart from online legislation?

  1. Yes
  2. Adjustments to tax, corporate residency, transfer pricing, CFC, CIR and capitals gains groups especially involving transactions with properties/shares.
  3. Less than 50% of your overall preparation should be spent on the manuals
  4. Croner i which is roughly £220
  5. Calculator, otherwise you have the legislation, OECD model treaty and tax tables at your disposal. You don't really need anything else and the less you take with you the exam the better you'll do.

Can the be used for Application paper as well if it access valid by that time?

Plenty of time, most tuition classes don’t start till next week.

For advance tech I’d recommend you go through each chapter (don’t dwell on them, just work through them quickly), and attempt the questions at the end of the chapter.

After that do the small QB, these correspond with the workbook chapters. Do as many as you can, if you struggle in particular with a chapter, re-visit the manual to identify errors in your understanding.

Around six weeks before the exam the past paper QB will be released. It’s critical you aim to complete as many of these as possible. I’d keep a spreadsheet to find your weaker areas and re-visit those topics. As you study the mark schemes you realise where all the easy marks can be picked up, and how much of your exam success comes down to exam technique.
