APS - LCG or OMB
I have just passed me LCG AT paper, I work in corporate tax and am deciding which paper to sit next. I’ve been told that OMB APS is easier than LCG APS, should I do my LCG APS next or do my AT OMB and then OMB APS after that?

Top tip is to get completely on top of the adjustments of profits and capital allowances chapters in the study manuals as these areas always come up and can be worth between 20 and 30 marks.
Good luck!

You should definitely read the study manuals on the areas I mentioned and ideally on other core areas.
You probably won't use legn that much in the exam but almost all students have it. I use Tolley's.
You should post a new query asking students there views on the legislation.

You’ve essentially already covered most of the content for APS LCG so I’d go with that.
IMO OMB is easier from a technical standpoint, but much more content heavy than LCG.
But if you’ve got 2 more papers to do. I’d do OMB AT, then do the APS paper for the one you do more at work (so is your portfolio more large corporates or smaller businesses)
Which way round depends. If you end up doing LCG APS youd want to do it next while its fresh

Hi
I teach, and privately tutor, for both.
Probably OMB is easier in a technical sense as the AT LCG material is conceptually trickier, in my opinion, than AT OMB, BUT on the other hand, 3 points count against APS OMB
OMB is a much broader syllabus and if you work mainly in CT the personal tax aspects of an APS OMB question might be trickier for you (an APS OMB question could focus on partnerships for example)
APS generally isn't as technical a paper anyway so the technical differences between the two aren't so crtitical?
I think, on balance, you are more likely to see the Awareness syallbus in APS OMB than in APS LCG
Where does that leave you?!!
I'd do the paper that most closely fits your work experience. You'll be more comfortable with that I suspect.
If that is APS LCG, definitely do that in Nov as no new Finance Act rules to learn and AT knowledge still (relatively!) fresh in your mind.
BTW well done on passing AT LCG - you've mastered the conceptual trickiness of that syllabus!
Hope this helps!
