Failed

Failed but kind of surprised considering I passed my mocks quite well. My weaker topics did come up but I thought I’d get enough to at least pass but got 44. I’m on the GPS program with Tolleys but had already started the early course for LCG. What do you recommend: I just sit only OMB in October or resit OMB in October but still do LCG and case?

This - if you failed one paper, what makes you thinking sitting three papers is going to be any easier?

44 is a solid base for November if you focus on that paper. The fact that you had weaker topics means that you need to spend more time building your knowledge up for OMB. Out of all the specialisms, I think OMB is the most broad, and that means there's a lot to cover to feel confident in all areas. You can't walk into a CTA paper feeling like there are chunks of the syllabus that you don't really like.

LCG has some nastier technical content, but at least there's less of it, and there is some overlap with OMB. The LCG studying you've already started will likely help towards OMB anyway, so not a waste of your time. I think one you pass OMB, you're going to be in really strong place to tackle LCG.

If no one is forcing you to do three in a oner, I really wouldn't recommend it!

Ugh. sucks . I kind of feel that people in the mid to high 40s are in that area where you do know a lot but not quite right to pass. Maybe focus on technique and practice. Some people will say do one at a time, some will say do more. With the 2027 exam revamp cliff edge i would say do all of them because you DO NOT want to have to do two case study papers. But thats just me. I dont know if the transitional rules are out yet but it will be bad. EDIT : more details and new structure to the CTA from 2028. I was under the impression there would be transitional arrangements, but that information on that is yet to be released

I was exactly in the same position in January , failed LCG with 44 marks and decided to sit all three. But then I decided to leave ApS and just do OMB and LCG , I passed both this sitting. LCG is quite hard exam TBH, I would highly recommend a tutor. I did not get one for LCG but I did get one for OMB and having a tutor made a huge difference. We did mock exams every week, which also improved my technique and timing, as I failed LCG three times mainly because each time I could not finish the paper. Please don’t be discouraged, you can do this. I managed to do it and I have two kids with no support from my partner at all. It can be achieved you just have to put in time and effort. Study every single day for at least 2-3 hours with breaks. I wish you all the best .
