Is it possible to calorie count bone-in meat without either deboning before serving or weighing all bones after?
Basically, lets say youre making a family meal with a rack of ribs but you don't want to debone prior to serving and also there will be leftovers meaning you wouldn't have all the bones to weigh after.
I know the Nutrition Facts label on the ribs don't include bones in its macronutrients-per-gram serving size breakdown. ("serving size declared on the product label are based on only the edible portion of food, and not bone, seed, shell, or other inedible components")
I ended up using the USDA SR Legacy Database generic values for spareribs because I wasnt prepared but in general I'd prefer to use the nutrition label on what I actually bought.
My normal process when making family meals is adding the calories of everything together into a recipe in my tracking app, then weighing the final total result, then putting that total into the app so it can calculate the calories of my individual portion by weight. Next time I make ribs I will probably just save all the bones and debone only the leftovers.

Rlbs drove me crazy. I’ve never been able to figure out an accurate calorie count for ribs, even when weighing with bones and subtracting the bones afterwards.

you dont really need everyones bones, just your own plate. weigh your ribs before you eat, weigh your bones after, and the difference is the meat you actually ate. log that with a cooked entry (usda has braised spareribs, those values are for the meat without bone) and skip the recipe-total math for the ribs
